Research has shown that 20% of emails never reaches the inbox of the recipient because it has been blocked in error by a spam filter.

It is surprising that the sender and not the provider of email services has greater influence on the ability to deliver.

Although your solutions provider email has an impeccable reputation, your emails may never reach the inboxes of the recipients of your valuable mailing list or database if the list and/or message content has problems. No software can solve by itself the content of the message or the problems listed, period. The emails with the world's most beautiful design is useless if it is locked or lands in the folder "spam".

Put into practice the following 6 tips to minimize delivery problems and then compare, you will see a positive effect on your email-marketing program and generating conversions.

Here are 6 Tips to Keep Your Email Out of the Spam Folder

1. Watch your reputation

Email providers like AOL, Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail etc. categorize you as the sender basing on the reputation of your domain and IP address (a number that identifies each device in a network with IP protocol). For high delivery quotas, you must create a positive history, sending only requested and relevant emails.

If your mailings shipments are too frequent and often remain unopened service providers (ISP) may block your email.

By using a professional service MTA (Mail Transport Agent) the risk of being blocked is low.

2. Keep your list clean

The purchase of mailing lists of "fresh" or DB can ruin a campaign email. People often respond well only to emails whose reception has been previously allowed. Email campaigns sent to lists or databases purchased - which tend to be full of invalid or dead addresses - can damage your reputation beyond repair so much that you can block the domain.

Purchased lists can also be "spam traps" email addresses and databases created solely to attract and generate SPAM grounds for complaints.

3. Watch your content

SPAM filters as the following:
- The frequency of words SPAM potential (for example, free offers, gifts ...)
- The reputation of the links in your eMail.
- Relationship image into text
- Size of your email
- The reputation of hosting service for your images.

4. Apply your recipients to include you in their "white list"

Want to avoid delivery problems? Simply ask your subscribers at the time of signing up for your mailings to add your address to their address books allowed. Found between authorized senders frees you from the constraints of the filters.

5. Do not cheat

Don't use tricks and cheats as the following tips:

- Introduction of non-coherent symbols into words in the subject line or content to fool spam filters.
- Fields of deceptive business starting with "Re:" or "Fwd" for wanting to understand initiated prior notification to you.
- Misleading in the subject field as the recipient has won a prize claims when the content sets conditions to claim it.
- Text in image: Cover a text message with a picture to fool the filters.

6. Keep a monitoring program

There Spam Assasin testing programs that examine your mail using many of the criteria used by email providers.
- Risk Keywords
- URL blacklist

This was a very useful post with alot of great tips inside. I would add that a large percentage of people don't know what whitelisting is and how to do it. Make sure and you explain it to them after they sign up so that way they know you are wanting to help them instead of sell to them.
