Hi Laurence -

Now that's an interesting question as it raises the issue of myself needing to improve on G+ as I am sure there is much more to this platform than meets the eye...

That said my money is on FB - thats because of the sheer numbers of users and groups which you can connect to and consequently leveraging that for traffic to your site... In addition FB ads has some excellent targeting capabilities based on age, gender, location, hobbies, interests, employment etc...

I've found direct sales does not work on social media - and I can understand that as its annoying to see such ads as well as the fact people are on these platforms to socialize and not buy things... Hence for me the indirect approach is best such with capturing leads and in turn making a soft sale once I have developed a relationship.... BTW - One of the best social media campaigns that I have launched relates to quizzes such as those buzzfeed ones with at the end of it recommending the user to sign-up for more info on a specific topic... Memes, Infographs and of course informative, helpful articles are other methods too... In otherwords I would focus on fun and engaging means to reach out as that can go viral and bring in more organic traffic through shares etc...

I very much hope that helps....

On that note I'm really interested to hear of other views... especially on how to improve on G+ ....

Best Regards,

Sid

My advise would be to use them both my friend, some niches don't work on Facebook. For instance, it's hard to push internet marketing stuff on Facebook as compared to Google+. It really depends on the niche so use them both.

But facebook brings me a lot of traffic as compared to Google+ but I get more traffic from G+ than the traffic I get from Twitter, Tumblr and other social networks. So G+ is number 3, facebook number 2 then number 1 is search engine traffic.

And it's not easy to get people to re-share your content on Google+ as compared to facebook. Social media marketing becomes more effective if other people are sharing your content and it's easier to get re-shares on facebook as compared to G+.

Try them both, maybe your niche will work well on G+ :)

Laurance,

It mainly depends on your target market and your industry / niche. For example:

• We find that our campaigns for a system security software product generate much better results in Facebook than in Google+, primarily because we're targeting regular PC users (more of them are in Facebook than in Google+); and

• Our campaigns for tech network service contracts generate way better results in Google+ than in Facebook, primarily because we're targeting network engineers, IT personnel and the expert PC staff of start-up and veteran businesses, small to medium-scale companies and corporations in local and overseas industries...

You may have noticed that we tested both for our campaigns. I think you should start out with test campaigns, too. Cheers! :)

Social media is really a chance to raise a discussion, foster group and test the norm

Both Google and Facebook have an enormous potential group of onlookers, and they both are basically PPC promoting channels.

Facebook and Google each one offer paid publicizing models notwithstanding free internet promoting tools like Facebook Fan Pages and Google+ Business Pages. These pages don't require the advertiser to pay, yet are still incredible venues for advancing your image and items.

Our exploration demonstrates that Google is the better decision for showcase promoting on the grounds that it has predominant CPC execution, enhanced commercial focusing on choices, and a huge show of notice arrangements that Facebook needs. In a perfect world, its best to attempt both and find which fits best with your brand.
