I created a blog that teaches musicians who're already making music but can't get industry standard sound, quality-wise. So I teach them how to get a professional sound in their small studios.
The blog gets a lot of traffic from search engines and I have a strong following on social media with great engagement. I give the musicians a free ebook in exchange for their email address. I collect emails via my blog, youtube and a dedicated squeeze page.
Then I sell them a course that teaches them how to get a pro sound. I also do hangouts and every one who wants the recorded hangouts (replay) pays $27 every month (membership site). I also promote affiliate products and offer advertising on my blog.
It took me about 5 months to start generating an income, but it was back in 2009 when things were still a bit easy. It wasn't serious money back then just adsense cheques and a few affiliate sales but it kept me going till today where I make a stable income without a need for a job, anyway I've never had a 9 to 5 job.
Other interesting things along the journey you'd like to share?
I met a lot of really cool people online, collaborated with top musicians. I've run contests with big schools (official schools) and I'm now working with big independent record labels. I'm living the internet lifestyle I've always dreamed about without a big office with ceo, manager, employees, admin etc. I get to spend more time with my family and I don't have any pressure.
My journey was a lot of fun, with up and downs but I'm loving it
