I'm making a new website with a friend and we have several alternatives for web hosting our page, but right now he's very insisting that we use Godaddy which looks good enough for our purposes, but I was hoping to find someone with experience on it before and if not, what are some other great web hosting pages? Thanks!

They say go daddy is a great place to register domains, but not very good hosting providers. I have have any experience with go daddy. I once tried to get a dot com on go daddy for $1. It was during their promotional period. It said anyone could buy a dot com with $1. However, when went to claim a domain, it said the offer is not available.
I use namecheap. namecheap has affordable hosting packages. It also has wonderful support system.

Godaddy is perfect for domains but I would not recommend them for hosting. You never get great support from these giant hosting providers also they are quite expensive.

As other have said, Godaddy is not so good for hosting, their support is not so good. I personally have not experience with them but I have read on many different forums many negatives comments about them, about how unreliable they are, how they can not recommend Godady to anyone else and that people should stay away from it . So I would say it is best to avoid them and look for other better options that exist.

I used both domain and hosting service from Godaddy in the past and till now.
But now I am only using their domain service and having 10+ domain names there and left their hosting service 3 years ago because I have issues when using their hosting.
For hosting, I would recommend some providers on this forum

https://forumweb.hosting/130-web-hosting-offers

For domain names, I still stick with Godaddy but some good alternatives are namecheap.com, name.com I would suggest you :)

Thanks to everyone who answered! I'll probably end up just buying the domain on Godaddy and go to a different company anyway, my friend had already told me that but I was unsure why, now I do know :thumb:

I would suggest not to go for GoDaddy because the hosting services are quite expensive and a poor customer support too. In the initial stage I bought the domain and the hosting service which combinedly cost me about $5 but after a year they are saying that I have to pay a lump amount of $80 in my currency which is quite expensive for me. So I think it is wise to look or some other service. :)

I know many people that have used go daddy and not had any issues at all. Many people i speak with have expressed that in a lot of cases they would rather use a smaller company to host sites and domains as they seem to get a better quality of service when using a smaller company. But then a lot of people think the exact opposite. I would say if you do decide to go for either you will be in good hands as both are good companies.

I hope you find what your looking for and good luck

I used godaddy a few years ago for a literary journal I was editing online. It was easy to set up the domain, but I seem to remember them not sending me updates about billing, and suddenly my account would get hit with a charge. I haven't heard of namecheap, but I will check that out next. Every day I leave this forum with a long list of new venues and ideas to explore.

Whats the difference between godaddy and bluehost? they said bluehost is in the top and i'm curious why? Anyways in my views go daddy has a cheap domain name. I'll stick with ipage and bluehost sooner or later since i tried their service and it's great. I'm just curious for peoples opinion on godaddy and i found out a lot to day about it.

Why not using Namecheap, they were pretty radical in terms of web hosting. They provide good quality support by their staff. They are also the complete opposite of GoDaddy after the anti-SOPA. You can always find good reviews about them.

I actually have tried GoDaddy and they're pretty bad. Their web hosting isn't bad, but their templates are God awful and very limiting. There are only a handful of templates and pale in comparison to other "Build-a-website" sites on the web like Wix and Square. I also never actually found a way to host my own website that I made myself I am not sure if they fixed that problem and I am not going back to find out. If you are using GoDaddy, just don't please.
