Greetings everyone,

Our team is going to launch a new product and we are think a video introduce about our products will be more informative for viewers.
But with purpose to getting more views for our videos from search engines, we didn't know which place to put video is better, on our own website or Youtube channel? what are the best ways in this case? Which one search engines prefer?
Maybe need your advice.

thanks in advance!

If you want to get more SEO value for video use own site for host if you are using youtube to embed video its mean you are giving your content credit to youtube.

I don't think so.
for example:
You try to post 1 video to youtube and your site at the same time

One or some days later, try to search its title on search engine (google) and of course, the result I guest you knew, always Youtube.

Which one search engines prefer?
Definitely Youtube, because it's the most popular video site on the world, except your site is strong like it.
I would suggest you try both, but prior to youtube first, more views, friendly with search engines.

If you have the bandwith and data storage, then I would put the video on your own personal site. You could even create a shorter related video on Youtube and link to your main video on your site.

If your looking for a quick ranking for your video, then stick it on Youtube, but for long term benefits then I would place the vid on own site and let the search engines see that it's your content.

That's not true. And seeing how Google owns YouTube, they're going to value that far greater than your own site. And you don't surrender your copyright because you upload to YouTube.

Our team is going to launch a new product and we are think a video introduce about our products will be more informative for viewers.

This seems like a non-issue. Where are you going to host your videos if not on YouTube? Vimeo? You'd need a dedicated server {most likely} to host the videos on site. If you use WordPress, you will have to upload them through FTP right to your host because WP has file upload limits and most videos will exceed the limit.

And if you're more concerned with marketing your site, they will be better off on Vimeo or YouTube vs your site. Most likely you will have to host them on a 3rd party like YouTube or Vimeo...so to me...this is a non-issue.

You can host your video either in YouTube OR vimeo & import that in your website is good way to make your website SEO friendly. It will also help to reduce your website load time.

I would use a combined approach.... Use Amazon S3 for self hosting your videos on your own site - you get amazing quality, bandwidth and security etc... As typically video sharing sites such as Youtube will always degrade the quality (try placing HD videos and you'll see what I mean)... This is also a great approach if your videos are subscription based e.g. membership site or paid product.

Also place those videos on to video sharing sites such as Youtube, vimeo, daily motion, metcafe, blip, blinkx etc... You may want to put excerpt/trailer ones on to those sites which attempts to push traffic to your site...

That way you maximize exposure - and as others mentioned Youtube is massive - it is after all the second largest search engine... In fact I would be tempted to create multiple accounts, upload the same video which targets different keywords with different titles, descriptions and keyword tags... as Youtube videos can rank really fast on the serps... You can even fire a ton of backlinks to them with tools such as GSA, SE Nuke, xrumer with getting them to rank faster as well as use of paid gigs for shares, views, comments etc...

Margarita,

Google indexes and ranks posts with embedded Youtube videos. I suggest uploading your videos in your Youtube channel, then embedding it in your site. Here's why:

• Using your target secondary exact match and long tail keywords -- You can optimize your videos in Youtube for Youtube search -- This just involves optimizing your titles (use your secondary keywords), descriptions (at least 250++ words with your secondary keywords), tags (use your secondary keywords), views and almost non-existent bounce rate (longer videos, better), likes and subscriptions and comments and shares (give your viewers good reasons to do these things, and in your videos, entice them to like your videos, subscribe to your channel, leave comments and share your videos)...

• For traffic funneling results -- You can drive targeted traffic from other directly and laterally relevant trending, wildly popular, viral and top viewed videos in Youtube to your own videos in Youtube -- This just involves adding the same tags of those relevant trending, wildly popular, viral and top viewed Youtube videos to the tags of your videos in Youtube...

• Using your target primary exact match and long tail keywords -- You can optimize your onsite posts with your Youtube video embeds for Google Search, Google Video, Google Image, Google News (if you create news-worthy videos) and so on -- This just involves optimizing your unique post titles (use your primary exact match and long tail keywords), your unique commentary content in the body of your post (use your primary keywords), the tags of your posts (use your primary keywords) and the alt text of images / photos that you'll embed in your posts (use your primary keywords)...

• For your keywords -- You can rank your posts in Google Search, Google Video, Google Image, Google News (if relevant), etc. -- This just involves initially having these posts indexed by Google and Bing (do this by submitting properly created sitemaps, updating and re-submitting sitemaps when you have new content, and using various functions in Google Webmaster Tools like Crawl Errors and Fetch As Google). Then, entice others to share your posts and leave comments and become a fan of your Facebook page and so on (add enticing reminders to the unique commentary content in the body of your posts). Next, build backlinks with anchors that use your secondary keywords in heavily trafficked, niche-authority sites...

• For your keywords -- You can also build backlinks that use your primary keywords for your videos in Youtube, in order to also rank them in Google...

NOTE: For those who want to profit from ad revenues generated by Youtube videos -- Signing up as a Youtube Partner and doing the things above will allow you to get more viewers, thereby generating more ad revenues for you (assuming that your videos and industries / niches have enough commercial value for ads to appear in your videos)...

That's it for now. Cheers! :)

Optimize both.
You video on YouTube will bring traffic from search if you do thing right
And the page on your web-site has to be optimized as well. Use titles, descriptions, text, images on the page with the video.

Video and your web-site page will be in search results and this will lead to higher conversions
