There are many ways to get traffic to a squeeze page or website. Please share which methods you are using and how well they work for you.
The method I have had the most success with by far is SEO. If I am going to use SEO, that is a decision I make before launching the website. Then I build the website with the specific intention of ranking for a certain keyword phrase and other phrases closely related to that keyword. This method has worked exceptionally well for me in terms of traffic volume and how targeted that traffic is. It is, by far, my favorite approach for most of my new projects.
Referal traffic is my second favorite source of traffic. The volume is low, but the conversion is high. By referral traffic I mean any time any place that one person tells another person to go visit one of my websites. That could be on a forum, in social media or when one person is having a live discussion with another person. I use specific tactics to create more of this referral traffic. The tactic depends on the audience I am targeting.
So for many of my websites, SEO and referral traffic are the only sources I focus on at all.
But those aren't the only traffic sources I use or rely on. Some situations call for different tactics.
I have websites that I only generate traffic for from offline sources (word of mouth, business cards and stickers given to people who are the perfect audience for that site).
I have websites that I promote strictly using content marketing. The traffic levels are low but the traffic quality is very high (almost perfectly targeted).
I have websites that are promoted entirely using Google Adwords. Yes you pay for every visit, but the traffic is very highly targeted which makes it easier to convert and more profitable. In these cases, the traffic is also somewhat limited to a percentage of the search volume for the specific keywords I buy ads for.
So it really depends on the situation.
