????

Thats like saying, "when you eat food, is it better to chew it or swallow it?"

You do both :clap_1:

Along with that, you should be using YOUR SITE to push traffic to your book as that would probably be more effective. Unless you know something about manipulating your impressions on Kindle, a method that fell from the sky in a cloud of fairy dust, there is no other way to make a living off of ebooks unless you market them.

The mailing list comes after the initial marketing.

The best method for marketing eBooks is to do review sites around the niche the eBook is in, and plaster incentives for your eBook EVERYWHERE!

This has me confused. Can you please explain what you mean by this. What ebook type are you talking about? PDF/ePUB etc? Do google crawl through ebooks? Are they capable of crawling through ebooks? Thanks.

Steve.

Google can crawl through eBooks if they are publicly uploaded on the internet. They obviously will not follow or index pages marked as such, which covers most protected PDF files. Additionally, they can't crawl any eBooks in most eBook stores.

As far as the initial question goes, I do have a few "eBooks" (more like pamphlets) that I use as lead magnents. I sell them on Kindle for $1 with the aim of driving the buyers to my email list. They work very well.

Are you sure that Google couldn't index pages in pdf files in ebooks stores?

I tried to search content of some ebooks and it's even cached all in google search results.

what is your answer.

Most major eBook stores allow the creator to give a free preview of the book, which allows potential customers to read up to a certain percentage in the book (I believe for Kindle this is 20%, and for Google Play this is set by the author. I'm not sure about the other stores)

This part will be indexed, but the rest of the book will not.

Not sure if I have read your question correctly and I am new to ebooks but have just spent 2 months writing two using openoffice so I can only respond as a newbie and I only know a little about openoffice.

I added a footer to each page and in that footer I added a temporary website url (not got the domain yet). I also intend on adding the website url to each and every email being sent out to the list I hope to build. Perhaps this isn't the way I should be doing it though because I am still learning.

hope that is of some help

Steve.
