What makes you say that Pub?

You must be using them wrong if that's the case! :D

Not all web 2.0 sites are equal.

But some have more authority in the SERPs than others and can be used to rank some long tail keywords high without even doing any SEO on 'em. ;)

I find them very useful for that! :D

What makes me say that?

Simple. It's true.

The blogs you create on Web 2.0 sites have zero authority. They do not benefit from the root domain.

They have the same authority that brand new domain would have. The only way they become useful is if you build authority to them, but it is pretty silly to waste time and money building authority to something you don't own. Better off just building authority to your own site or network of sites.

I think to understand which is "Best" you need to understand what "Web 2.0" is. Web 2.0 by definition is at its core the difference between static and dynamic.

I would go so far as to say that Web 2.0 is not determined on a Site level, but on a Page level. A home page that is static would be considered web 1.0. A Squeeze page that does not have a counter or the like would be considered web 1.0. A blog page that does not have ratings, or commenting could be web 1.0.

The premise of the question "Which Web 2.0 site is best to increase the site backlinks & traffic in less time?" really doesn't mean anything other than which dynamic site of all the sites in the world is the best to get back links and traffic.. the answer would be the main page of Google - right there when it says "Google" and has 2 buttons "Google Search" and "Im feeling lucky".. to have a link right there... life would be good.

Hello friends,

Web 2.0 sites give sub domain, and google treats each sub domain treat as a new domain. So if you want to get SEO benefits from your web 2.0 backlinks then you will need to drive SEO juice to your web 2.0 sites. You can do it by creating tier 2 backlinks. If you can then you will get some SEO benefits from it. By the way here are few web 2.0 sites you can try.

tumblr
weebly
wordpress
blogspot
webnode
jimdo
webs
overblog
blog
skyrock

Hope this list will help you :)

Now a days, you must check that which web 2.0 site will give you dofollow link. Otherwise that web 2.0 backlink is useless

Many of the times I have seen Google owned properties dominating the serps. I see videos tend to rank a lot faster than content. You should start using videos on such web 2.0 blogs. I know for a fact that Blogger tends to rank fast.

Basically I think Blog spot. Here Google do SEO for you. After publishing a quality post with do follow back link- hyperlink with important keyword will give you huge traffic. These unexpected traffic can make you happy some times. I have been tried with this web 2.0 blog and I got success. You can try also WordPress, Tumblr, Hub Pages and there have minimum 500 listed web 2.0 blog on Google search engine.

Thanks

No fight, just a discussion.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. :)

Pretty silly according to who Pub? According to you? That is your opinion. Not neccessarily the opinion of the masses of people who us Web 2.0's for this reason and do quite well from it too.

How can a Web 2.0 site have no authority? That contradicts it being a web 2.0 site in the first place. No site is a web 2.0 site if it doesn't have any authority.

What I meant by silly was why waste the time building up something that could be taken away at any time? Something that you have no control over. It can happen. I remember all the bellyaching when Squidoo went nofollow and then later shutdown. Or Hubpages. Or a number of other 2.0 sites.

If you are going to spend the time building authority to a Web 2.0 page, it makes much more sense to do it to something you control and own.

I did not say a Web 2.0 site doesn't have authority. I said the new blog you setup up on one has no authority. For example, if you setup a new Tubmlr blog, it is created on a new subdomain of Tumblr.com. That subdomain does not have any authority. Authority flows through links. There is no link path that can be traced from Tumblr.com to your new subdomain.

Same goes for all other 2.0 sites whether it is a new Wordpress.com blog or a new YouTube channel.

Well yeah, obviously, but that's why you don't build orphan pages (pages that have no internal links to them). Of course, your page will have no authority at first. But it will still have authority in that the site itself has authority. I have been able to rank low to medium competition long tail keywords using Web 2's on their own (with no SEO).

And I've never had a web 2 site taken off me. They are all still up now.

No they don't. That is not how authority works. Authority flows through links. Those pages have no link path from the root domain, so they don't gain any authority from the domain itself.

If anything, Google would be more likely to downgrade content published on a Web 2.0 site than reward it because there is so much trash on those sites and it takes zero effort or financial commitment to publish on them.

If they had authority from the root domain, you would see tons of Web 2.0 sites ranking in the SERPs for moderately competitive terms. You don't see that though.

And as far as you never having a Web 2.0 site taken away, that's what everyone who had a Squidoo page said right up until they were taken away.

Great. Got some learning from you. I shall apply must about long tail keywords. SEO techniques are regularly changing and last time I got a success with one of my client who said only to do back link with web 2.0 and if possible up to tier 9 back link. The guy has been earning $35000 per month by doing back link only by several options.

Thanks for your tips. Wish you all the best.

Thanks

Trust me, even though the page itself is new and doesn't have any Search Engine authority, Search Engines will still give more presidency to it in the SERPs if the actual Web 2.0 site itself is an authority site. That's how I'm able to get Reddit text posts ranking within the top 10 for low to medium competition keywords. If no authority is given to it, why do those pages rank high in 5 minutes or less?

As for Squidoo, well that place was a spam fest right from day one. And Squidoo become Hubpages (or rather HP acquired Squidoo). During that process, they dropped a ton of peoples pages and accounts. Mostly those that weren't really adding any benefit to the site and weren't pulling in any traffic. Those are the ones that got dropped. Although, not much unlike Google panda update, it also meant a lot of other pages were pulled and dropped too. But there is always flack in a war. I believe they call it "collateral damage".

Yeah, I'd like to see one post on Reddit ranking for something competitive in 5 minutes. And I'm talking about a brand new Reddit. Not an existing Reddit on there where you make a new post.

There are two exceptions where that CAN happen. One is the QDF algorithm and the other is a search query that is time sensitive or news related. Those rankings do not last though.

And Reddit has just as much trash as Squidoo ever did. All Web 2.0 sites have some decent content, but the majority of the pages are just trash.

I actually sell that as a service on SEOClerks. I can send you about 100+ different submissions we ranked in 5 minutes or less. They are all still ranking now. Some in time rank higher as they mature. The world and SEO ain't as black and white as you make it out to be Pub! :)

Wordpress is much easy and have SEO friendly features as compare to Joomla. According to my opinion Wordpress is the best way to promote any website. But in Joomla you can get better security features then WP.
