I have just purchased a VPS hosting server and going to install a hosting control panel as plesk, cpanel or directadmin, but the first thing to install now is OS, i would go with Centos and Ubuntu but i am not sure which one is better for those hosting control panels. Can you suggest me which one should i go with?

I would suggest Ubuntu. But that's because I have been using Ubuntu for a long time now (Both for my Desktop and server). So it is a slightly biased suggestion.

But at least, cPanel and Plesk has support for Ubuntu. And Ubuntu seems to have a lot of community support.

I always choose Centos for my server, the problem just confusing me is, I should choose centos 6 or 7 or version 8, the rest depends on you when you only need to choose a good hosting control panel to run on it.

Centos 6 is reaching EOL (end of life) i would recommend centos 7 for now, as because alot of softwares like cpanel etc are still not fully supported by centos 8.

- Either cPanel or Plesk are good options with CentOS always.

- Both works good with CentOS and also provide good performance as well.
