With this service I can have my own OS running, and I can run it like a super-user, does it worth the money, if it does, what's the best provider?

There is no such thing as best provider, only the provider that works best for you. What might work for someone might not necessarily work out for you. What requeriments do you have regarding CPU, RAM, storage and OS, what are you planing to host? What is your current budget? You can start by checking out the VPS Hosting Offers and Best Web hosting sections, that might help you out with your decision.

It totally depends on your requirements. Many people have the tendency to make the wrong choices as beginners as they sign up for too many resources or too little resources for their needs. In order for us to advise, perhaps you might check out the offers as mentioned and see which one matches your requirements well and give you value for money.

For selecting your hosting provider, you have to look at your requirements and your budget. That's it.

VPS can be used when you have one or more websites that requires a lot of resources. It can also be used when you would like to host a number of websites on the same server. It is applicable only when your website is going to have moderate traffic. For huge traffic VPS may not work, that time go for dedicated servers.
Thank you, so, shared hosting for one website, VPS for moderate traffic, and dedicated servers for huge traffic. I'm starting to get the the hang of it.
