Hey all! Just curious when you’re working with dedicated servers what is the one thing that gives you the most headache?

For me, sometimes it’s juggling updates without downtime, or dealing with unexpected hardware issues. But I’m sure everyone’s got their own tough spots.

What about you? Would love to hear the challenges you face and how you usually handle them (or if you’re still figuring it out like me)!

For me it is usually network latency or sudden hardware failures. I try to minimize impact by having monitoring, redundancy and a quick escalation process in place.

For me it's firmware and driver hell. One server reboots after a routine update because the BIOS update nuked the RAID config. Another time, IPMI goes dark after a BMC update and I'm stuck with a $300/month doorstop until the data center tech can press the damn reset button. Even with good monitoring, hardware fails in weird ways - failed disks you can't hot-swap because the chassis is full, or NICs acting up after a kernel patch. Nothing like debugging a network drop at 2AM with a remote hands ticket and a coffee.
