Is there a reason why DigitalOcean is more common than OVH VPS?

I don't know why DigitalOcean is mentioned more than OVH when saying a VPS to start for newbies. Is DigitalOcean is better than OVH by cheaper, better networks or something else? or just DigitalOcean is promoted by their clients to new clients better on blogs or forums?

DigitalOcean is just the most popular cloud hosting provider, I prefer linode which have better performances and is two times less expensive.
But OVH had a very bad reputation outside Europe because they provide unmanaged services and most of users doesn't understand that.
OVH doesn't have the same advertisement budget than DO, and no affiliates program.

OVH support is poor.
Their billing not streamlined as DO.

DigitalOcean is more popular than OVH and it also provide better web hosting services than OVH ,Customer support service of OVH is not good.

Do is completely unmanaged ones and it is easy to deploy and rate is also good. The only issue with DO is we have to choose one of their plans and we dont have the option for a custom setup. If we need higher ram, then we need to upgrade to next plan. If the plans fits for you, then DO is the best as I have been hosting server's with them and remember no major outage from their part. Plan rate wise I can see OVH have much attractive lesser rates but I guess they needs some more good marketing strategy.

Another main attraction they have is hourly billing which enables the developers to test the sites at a lower cost. I guess this is what it makes customer more inclined to DO . Even me inclined to DO is mainly due to this as whenever I want some thing to test, I create a droplet and then use it for a few hours and then remove it. So no need to pay full amount.

I knew DigitalOcean when reading a post from an user who used their service and give good feedback for them, also promoting their services to earn extra bucks. I think its one of reason why DigitalOcean is more popular than OVH because they offering affiliate programs which give their customers opportunities to earn money from their hosting services.

Yes , you have got it right, digital ocean market their product more than ovh/scaleway do. Both are good providem in terms of pricing & service.
