How much does a web hosting service cost?

How much does web hosting cost? And how much money should I spend on this? It is not easy to answer this question. In my personal opinion, a good shared web hosting should somewhere cost $8 to $12, a VPS should be $20. With increasing requirements, the price will also increase accordingly, which should be ready to invest. What about you? How much does a web hosting service cost? it can be variable according to users' requirements?

The average price for shared hosting is around $5 per month I agree with your $20 VPS price.
It's so not much about cost but rather the underlying technology powering your service, some providers are at the more expensive end of the scale but have old hardware and HDD storage.

From me it goes for $3.95 per month for shared hosting with 5 GB disk space and enough bandwidth to manage several hundred visitors each day.

This is subjective as every host has his pricing preference, and they offer basically the same services.

The cost each individual is ready to pay depends on their preference. For those who really know what the need, know how much to pay. For those who are carried away by market gimmicks are guided by their emotions.

Price of a web hosting depends on the requirements of the website(s) to be hosted. Other factor is how much are you willing to pay for it. The uptime and downtime speed of a server varies according to the prices paid for it. It also depends upon the traffic that the website will experience. If taken a low specification server, website will not load due to heavy traffic.

I think it is around $4 to 6$ per month for shared hosting and for VPS hosting it is around 20$ per month but it also depends what is best for your web site and price varies with that.

I have seen shared hosting plans starting from $1 at warpline ( I had used them in my earlier days and not sure if any other gives for lesser than $1 or for the same rate) and is good to start with if you just have one site. If you are a startup, I will not suggest you to jump to VPS as it will surely have additional overhead like if you do not have an idea about server setup, then you will have to pay for those server setup, domain setup etc and I dont think no one will provide a full managed VPS at $20 per month. A fully managed VPS might be around $35 + minimum.

So I will suggest you to go with a shared plan if you are a start up and move to VPS once you grow enough

It depends upon your budget because with less dollar ($1) or so the provider might oversell the resources so its better to do check varius forums and check their services and uptime and select the proper company when you are choosing a hosting service for your website. If your website is new then you can go for cheaper price based hosting provider or its always to got for VPS or Dedicated Server Hosting for better performace.

I would say $3.9/mo initially, and $8.99/mo when renewing, that will be a fair price for a quality shared hosting plan.
But its easy even to find plan for as low as $1/mo. With coupon, we can get Godaddy shared hosting plan for as low as $12/year with one year of free domain, thats a pretty deal.
But all of this depends on how serious you are about your website, if you really care about reliability and security of your website, its not a big deal to spend couple of bucks extra per month.

You can easily find web hosting from $1.2/mo shared IP and 2GB SSD, but if you want Dedicated Ip Address it would be about $3.6/mo 5GB and VPS less than $10. It depends on how much you want to invest so that your business grow.
