Hello all. When you get a sale on your site. Do you ask the buyer how they found your site?

I'm using WooCommerce for my site and sales are picking up.

I just need some simple way to ask them how they found the site on the checkout page perhaps.

A simple drop down selector would do it. One that isn't required but optional.

Anyone know of a good plugin or something that can do that with WooCommerce.

I guess I just need to search in G but thought I'd ask here first in case anyone here has done it before!

Thanks!

I have never dealt with Woo to be honest with you, BUT, as popular as it is,
as you said, I am certain "G" will have a slew of links for you, however, if not,
shoot me a PM. I am a PHP programmer and always looking for new challenges.

Good luck on that aspect.

As for asking the user, I like to ask AFTER the sale... I will usually post a
comment form on the thank you page asking how they heard or my site
and will often offer a 10% - 25% off coupon code for their next purchase.
It entices them to come back and spend even MORE money, LOL...

It does work though.

Also, I would stay away from a drop down list. If you REALLY want to know
how they found out about you, a text field would be best (IMO anyway) as
you could NEVER list EVERY possible method...

Not just that, you'll be surprised to see how many people are more specific
this way.

For example:
"Jim Johnson" instead of just "Friend"
"Google" instead of just "Search Engine"
"John Chows Blog" instead of just "Blog Site"
"JohnDoesHomeCookingRecipes.com" instead of just "Another Website"
etc...

Just my 2¢ (but I expect change, LOL)...

Thanks Jo, managed to do it with the WooCommerce Poor Guys Swiss Knife plugin/addon.

Simply created a new field as a text area on the checkout page. As easy as that LOL

Great little plugin that one, highly recommended to add more features to your WooCommerce site. :)

Not everyone will offer this information and of those that do, some may be wrong (they forgot or made a mistake). Using analytics is a bit more scientific. Google for "google analytics woocommerce tracking" and you will find a few tools ready to go that can track who it is that sends you business, as far as online sources.
