Dedicated server is your own server which is act as your computer on which you can host the multiple sites, install applications and related services on it. You can built your own security alters and firewall on the dedicated server. You will have your own set of bandwidth, hard-disk and resources. You can rent the disk space, bandwidth, resources on the dedicated server.

You will have the root access of the server as it's your own server.

As it's your own server, you can manage it in your own ways. You can install anything which you would like to install. You can decide the security polices as per requirements. As it's dedicated server, you will have the full access to all the resources, bandwidth and all other things. You can run the heavy applications easily on the dedicated server.

You can update the applications as per you need. You can stop the services when you would like. It's dedicated to you.

Dedicated server mean complete server under the control of one user. If your web app has high traffic and CPU usage your VPS or Shared plan not enough for you then dedicated server with complete root access always a good option.

Companies/individuals that require custom configurations normally move to Dedicated server.

It doesn't mater the you are using your server inbound or out bound or looking to deploy private cloud solutions dedicated server mean complete server fetures with freedom of customization under one user.

In market Manged and un-managed dedicated servers are available. Perfect solution for business who want to take their business web to the next level.

Business entities Who own dedicated server for inbound our bout bound use, have full control over: operating system, bandwidth, storage, speed, third party applications etc. and does not share any feature with anyone else.

Dedicated server is just like huge computer that holds up your data. The server is designed to received files from another network securely. It manage the computer networks wherein they can send or received data. Ideally, it is highly recommended for companies or even small business operators to have a dedicated due to its enough bandwidth and space.

The advantage of shared hosting is that it is much cheaper than paying to have your own dedicated server. The main disadvantage is that with shared hosting, all the resources of the physical server (processor, memory) are shared. If other users are straining the resources of the shared server. it is likely that the performance of your website will suffer.

Dedicated server is just a fancy name foe exclusivity.
The exclusive use of a computer, web server and its resources without having to share with anyone else.

It's a bit expensive but worth it due to the benefit, you get to enjoy such as faster performance, low downtime, root access, ability to handle a very large traffic and so much more.

I thought always that servers are physical because of all the movies that I watched, but now I know more, thanks to this threat.

Dedicated servers is a single server that host your website, only your website alone rather than sharing other websites. You are also not sharing hardware with anyone else. You can access only your website on one server and you can make own security, Set bandwidth hard-disk and other resources.

It is an expensive but when your business grow you will handle millions of users, that time you need to large scale servers that can handle the traffic.

Great explanations. Indeed, a dedicated server is a separate computer (server) for your use only. When paying for it, you're actually paying to have full control of the server. For business, you can use it either for hosting (most common use) or, as mentioned, anything you might need to store. It's an excellent option if you're managing a large website with high traffic.

ELI5: you can safely regard a dedicated server as your personal car whereas a virtual server is just a seat at a public bus. It's you who decides where to drive your own car it and who gets a seat, but you don't have these privileges while riding a public transport. Undoubtedly riding a bus is way cheaper than buying your own car, but there are certain limitations that a personal vehicle is free of.

A dedicated server is an entire server that is only used by one user and no one else. This allows the server to handle exponential amounts of traffic, processing power, and storage.

Now, take all the answers above, and then also use this concept....buildings.

Shared Hosting - This of a large apartment building as a server, and in the building, there's many tenants in their own units. Those units are equivalent as a single website. A building (or server) can have hundreds of tenants/websites. Management is done by the apartment building/host.

VPS Hosting - A Town home structure. Still a building, but smaller, with less tenants/websites. Each tenant/website may have more space, but may be responsible for their own maintenance unless there's some form of management agreement.

A Dedicated Server - Your own home. A single structure (server) that only you own, and only your family/tenants/websites is in this home. Security, maintenance, and everything is in your hands. Now, if you want management for the server, the host may offer this, or you can hire a management team....similar to fixing things in your home yourself, or hiring contractors to do it for you.

This explanation works for those who are not tech oriented. :)
