How do you know when it's time to open an account at Pinterest, start with Instagram, or making a fan page on Facebook? What you need to know to determine whether to join one of these networks is a good decision for your business, and attract more customers for your brand?

It is necessary that you consider, investigate and analyze certain key factors before investing your efforts in social network:

Reason 1: What do you want to accomplish with your social media strategy? Choose a target.
What is it that you are not giving your existing social networks and what you'd get with your new channel?

Choose a specific goal and make sure the target coincides with the strengths of the network you are thinking about joining. For example, would be the ideal network Instagram if you want to give people a visual and intimate sense of your brand. But Facebook would be a better choice if you're looking to reach people who know nothing about your product, but fit your target demographic.

Reason 2: Determine what content is working
You may currently have a content strategy that is running on your existing social networks. To find out what type of content is working and therefore, what content should distribute or modify your new social network, you must analyze what posts they have worked and why. It may take one to analyze all this data while but will be one of the most important to create a successful media strategy steps.

Analyzes the content posted on each social network, and works in each of them, as it can not be the same. This will help you know what content should spread your new social network depending on the type of audience they want direct you.

It is recommended that you analyze this information at least from the last six months, as it will give you a broad view of what is working and what is not in social media.

Make a list of the post that have more worked and reuse and recycle think that content on your new social network. This will help you leverage your existing content and use it in a different way.

Reason 3: Study your competitors
Check out both qualitatively and quantitatively to what your direct competitors are doing. First, check if your competitors are active on the channel you're thinking. If you are not yet active in this network, you can get a great advantage to be first.

If your competitors are already active in this network, you must analyze their actions and their level of engagament.

Then make a list of your post and Upgrades shared in the time period in which you are interested, and analyzes what do they have in common all these publications.

Now analyzes very closely the brand that suit your criteria is more successful: the number of followers, the growth rate of followers, participation levels, etc. This is an easy way to marcarte goals in a space of time, but always realistic. In social networks it takes time to have a community of faithful followers.

Reason 4: Study your followers
What audience are you getting?

Make a study on users prinicipales your new social network and see if it fits with the philosophy of your brand. Do followers of your current networks are in this new social media channel? What are your major updates? What content tend to share more? If you investigate these issues further, you will ensure that from the first moment you set foot in your new social network, share your content and increase your visibility online.

One of the best ways to get followers for your brand is to create conversation. No use to share your content, then not solve doubts or not also recommend updates from your followers.

What about you? what reasons why you joined a social network?

I agree with you entirely. It's important when signing up for a social network that you actually have a plan for that network. In our case, YouTube was never intended, until we actually had a video made. At that point, we realized we needed that account - up until that point, Facebook & Twitter were the two main targets for us, and that's really only to be able to communicate more effectively and widely.

What's great about Social Media, is that you can blend in your (hopefully) valuable information into your followers daily routines. Instead of actually drawing their attention away from what they intended to do, they get that information as they scroll through their timeline, which they do anyway.
