Why isn't TLS used?

I have a question I know SSL has a new verison and its way better in security called TLS but why isn't it used?? also will SSL be moved to TLS for websites in the future for better security?

As far as I'm aware aren't both used? I think they are both doing the same thing, with TLS just being a bit more secure.

SSL use explicit connections to establish secure communication on the other hand TLS use implicit connections.

This seems to be such a widespread misunderstanding. The reality is that we are all using TLS all of the time but for some reason the term SSL has just stuck.

In the beginning (well in 1995) there was SSL, a cryptographic protocol for encrypting information over an internet connection. SSL evolved over time and in 1999 the name of the version was changed to TLS. You will hear a lot of people still referring to SSL, but unless thy are talking about a protocol that has been deprecated for over a decade, they actually mean TLS.
