My question is, Which one should I secure, my website or hosting? I think hosting or hosting control panel is from providers and they already secure them from hackers. So, I should concentrate on securing my websites. Is it right? Any comments?

By hosting do you mean that you have your own VPS/dedicated server?

If you are on shared hosting then the server should already be secured by your host (provider). So you only need to secure your website in that case.

Yes I have my own server.
I didn't use shared hosting since years ago.

As long as, for the server, you have CSF correctly configured as firewall and CXS (or Imunify360 if you have the budget) as scanner / anti-malware you should be ok.

All the hosting provider are secure for website hosting. If you are hosting wordpress site make sure you use the paid plugin & themes that will aviod the from hacker. You should always use the latest versions of the operating systems and all the third party plugins, software, paid anti-virus and CMS to keep your website secure. This is mainly because, an outdated software or application is more vulnerable to security threats, malicious programs, and hacking activities.

Both I mean if you going to provide support on a host you will need a forum for support which is a website so I would say secure both.

If you have something online and it is hacked, then you and only you are responsible for it, yes web hosting companies take care on their behalf to secure the server but what if you have chosen weak password for cpanel, ftp or email? and only keep secure password for WordPress? so, you got the picture...

Always remember when you go online for any platform such as hosting, social media or banking, always keep the combination of all passwords strong, which should not be easy to guess.

Incase of shared hosting with reputed company you don't have to look into server security, as it is provider responsibility.
If the website in question is using a CMS, there are most certainly security plugins available to it, as well as documented ways to crank up its security level. At any given time, exploits can crop up for the most common open-source CMS, so keeping them updated always.

If you are hosting sites on your un-managed VPS server then you will have to secure website as well as your server.
