Hi Sasirekha!

As long as you're not using the free version (wordpress.com ,blogspot.com etc) - and its a self hosted CMS then I would say they are mostly pretty much the same... i.e. CMS for WP, Blogger, Joomla etc

For me its a personal preference... I prefer Wordpress - it has a larger user base, more themes, plugins etc.. e.g. on-page SEO use the yoast plugin or all-in-one seo plugin... But saying that on-page SEO still requires manual effort e.g. keyword on title/heading tags, meta description (CTR), url format, canonicalization, website silos etc... so take the time to understand basic on-page SEO.

I also think Wordpress is probably the easiest too for beginners... There are so many free tutorials, videos online - that you should be up and running in no time....

On that note - Best of Luck with your decision!

Cheers,

Sid

If you're a newbie and want a simple, intuitive platform where you can just write as much as you like, without a care for customisation or that your blog may look like thousands of other blogs, then Blogger is perfect. Especially if you run with the notion that Google provides you with better security and easy access to all of its products. If however you're a bit more serious about blogging in the long-run and have an eye on future growth, WordPress is the platform for you.

Yes, I agree with Hassan because,
I have done all my sites in Wordpress, with a special theme aimed at he type of business/hobby the website was made for.
And the versatility of themes and plugin's with Wordpress is almost endless for the free and paid versions.
The best SEO plugin would be also "Wordpress SEO by Yoast"
And of course, with the Wordpress(.)org version you can place it on your own domain/hosting with no "other" ads then your own! :eek:k:

I would choose Wordpress.

There are plugins that you can use that make SEO pretty simple, even for the complete newbies. Most of them are free and there is lots of free tutorials floating around the web on how to set them up correctly.

My advice would be to choose the Yoast SEO plugin.

You can further enhance your SEO by choosing a theme that has been built properly with proper SEO in mind.

Again the Genesis framework would be my recommended choice, although there are a few other frameworks that are really good as well.

WordPress (self-hosted) installed on a web hosting plan is the best option. You can do pretty much anything you can think of with WordPress which is not the case with Blogger.

Blogger and Wordpress are both free. However if you are looking to customize the look and feel of your blog, you may want to go with Wordpress. There is more of a learning curve to use it, but you will catch on fast after playing around with the dashboard. Blogger on the other hand is nice for beginners and doesn't require much technical knowledge to customize it.

Blogger is set up for a drag and drop feature where you are limited on the layout. Wordpress on the other hand, you can custom code, design, and do whatever you want to it. It also has templates that are built for newbies so you don't have to code anything yourself.

Even when I was still a newbie, I still went for Wordpress. It's like the best training ground for aspiring bloggers and website builders-it gives you almost everything you need especially with the plug-ins. I suggest that you explore Wordpress more :)

If you intend to maintain just a personal blog though, then Blogger would do.

From a newbie / beginner's perspective, I would recommend them buy a domain suited to their name. Such as JohnSmith.com or any variation thereof with your first, last name as the keywords (if available).

Build a blog upon this structure. You will have ownership of 100% of your content and brand/domain name. All you need to have is a good host.

There are plenty around here. Do not put all you time into a third party blog such as blogger, wordpress.com, tumblr.com and what not. Build you own blog and brand from there.

This is the best practice to perform as a blogger today IMHO.

As regarding to the SEO purpose they both perform well in search engines. But for other reasons it depends what type of website you are planning to build, whether it is a only article based site and require very small image files then Blogger with private domain name is good. But if you are planning for a huge site that contains a lot of high resolution pictures, video files etc. then I prefer you go with Wordpress private domain name and private hosting.
