Although the total number of IPv4 transfer requests was down in May 2022, it is still too early to tell how the recession will impact IPv4 sales for the year. In general, economic recessions tend to have a negative impact on consumer spending, which could lead to fewer people buying new IP addresses.

However, there are also a number of factors that could offset this trend. For example, many companies have been forced to move their operations online in recent months, which has increased the demand for IP addresses. Additionally, some governments have started investing more heavily in digital infrastructure projects during the pandemic, which could also lead to an increase in demand for IP addresses. As a result, it is still unclear how the recession will ultimately impact IPv4 sales in the coming months.

IPv4 is probably a recession-proof asset by this point

Since the global recession started in 2007, IPv4 sales have been declining. In 2009, IPv4 sales were down by 32% from 2008 levels. In 2010, IPv4 sales were still down by about a third from 2009 levels.
This trend is likely to continue as companies tighten their budgets and look for cost-effective ways to improve their networks. While IPv6 adoption is on the rise, it is unlikely that IPv4 will be completely replaced any time soon.

The global recession has had a significant impact on IPv4 sales. In 2009, IPv4 sales were down by 40%. However, in 2010, they increased by 50%. It is likely because IPv6 is not yet ready for widespread use. Until now, businesses have been reluctant to make the switch to IPv6 because of its high cost and the lack of availability of compatible hardware. However, with the global recession hitting companies hard, they may be more willing to make the switch now.

The current economic recession is likely to have a negative impact on IPv4 sales. Many people are using IPv4 because it is more reliable than IPv6. However, in times of economic uncertainty, people may switch to IPv6 in order to avoid problems with their internet connection. It means that IPv4 sales would decline during the current recessionary period.

In my opinion, IP sales are still going strong but the per IP price has somewhat stopped growing at least in the past 3 to 6 months.

I do am curious about what's going on with IPv4 addresses. I'm just not seeing a wholesale switch to IPv6 right now. I would say perhaps one in twenty prospects asks about IPv6, while 19 out of 20 want IPv4.
