What are the best free ways to advertise your hosting company? Does anyone have a good list of methods you often use to advertise your hosting company?

Word of mouth, customers talk and if you go above and beyond for them they'll tell other people about your services.

Being active on forums such as this one is a great way to promote your services.

Guest posts on blogs is another great way.

It might be possible to get free traffic from social media - but it won't be easy. You'd need incredibly viral content. Nonetheless, I think it can be done - and for free. Of course, in that instance, it would pay to have a gang of people in your company helping you out. However, though, in that case, you'd probably be paying them, so in that instance, it wouldn't technically be free advertising. Anyway, does anyone have any thoughts on social media as a way to get clients?

I think in the web hosting business, consistency is key. Treat your existing customers right and they will in turn recommend you to their friends and folks

This does beg the question (which I think the OP is asking), how do you get initial clientele? My answer to this is to connect with local organizations and businesses through word of mouth and networking events. Btw, it is okay to give away services for $0.00. This is no the same as free though. I guarantee if you partner with some local non-profits, and you meet their needs, their friends, family, and partners will take interest in your company as well. I have found that many people want to work with businesses they can trust, and often times this isn't a large saturated corporation.

To answer the question about how to gain that "initial clientele" - I'd say the best way to start is by reaching out to potential customers, and also participating and advertising on forums such as this one.

Word of mouth goes a long way, and that is something you'll be rewarded with if you provide excellent service to your initial clientele and beyond.

To add to this, I have found that on forums such as this, it actually helps to not be another businesses with a big signature advertising services and trying to get anyone and everyone to snag your offer. I have found that by making helpful contributions and helping people with issues individually, those connections often lead to inquiries about my services. :) My biggest secret

If you want some free ways to advertise a hosting company, then you should consider about the guest post and forum signatures from web hosting forums, such as this website. However, I'm not sure whether or not one can advertise their hosting company using both of those ways. It depends on your writing and marketing skills. Two advantages of guest posts and forum signatures are you'll get high-quality backlinks (relevant) to boost your web hosting site's SEO and as a content marketing on other sites.

So, help people using your quality posts, and they would remember you.

That's true, but, you must take into account that all the first earnings MUST BE USED TO finance further paid campaign, where? No One really know, and if someone should know he will not confide publicly his marketing secrets. A good way it always to create a site with good contents.

Word of mouth is always a good way of getting new business. Advertise locally, do some flyers advertise in local companies.

You could then try
adwords this will eat your money... Be very careful as you will be spending a lot for little return

SEO again will cost you a monthly fee for a number of months before you see a return

Advertise in forums

Getting people talking about you and your products

Word of Mouth & SEO both are the most effective way to grab clients. But these 2 will take time. There are some alternatives i.e forums, blogs, guest posting etc. But whatever method you follow, you have to be regular on that.

You'll always have to do it first by yourself, either by telling clients to try it out or something that no one mentioned - social medias. If you have a fairly successful Facebook profile with a lot of friends, they can try it out, if you don't there are groups for everything so you can try there.

I would suggest below points for advertise the hosting company -

1. Add the comments section in your website so all your current customers can give the review on it which is publically visible.
2. Social media - It is best option now a days because all people are 24 hours online on it. Always post the new offers, new services which you are launching.
3. Mouth advertise - You can ask your current customers to provide the reviews to other interested people who would like to sign-up for hosting service. You can ask your friends for providing the information about your websites.
4. Google ad-wards - You can sign-up for Google adwards to display your hosting service advertisement.
5. Local advertisement channels - You can use this medium too for advertising.

I would suggest social media like Facebook, twitter and Instagram and going for Facebook ads is one of the best ways to let them know about your hosting company. I forgot to mention that you can also pay for a certain you tube channel to advertise your hosting company. Make a you tube channel if you don't want to pay a you tube content creator.

Ways to advertise is through social media, like Facebook and but not so much on Instagram and Twitter as it may be hard if you do not have enough followers to pull you up. You could advertise on forums, just like this forum web. If not, by going through existing customers to get the word out, it is the best option amongst all. That's if you are giving your existing customers the best services, if not, it may cause alot of trouble for your company when advertising.

I know most people know this already, but Social Media plays an important role when we talk about advertising most especially when you are a beginner in this field, don't have a budget and is still looking for ways to gain traffic and potential customers.
They're all correct that Word of Mouth is also a factor that can help you with advertising especially if you have connections and many friends. Another would be joining forums like this and gaining information.

I don't know what kind of skills you have, but maybe you could run some kind of a blog regarding hosting, write some tutorials, then advertise on it. Same as youtube videos. Write posts on forum like this.
Advertise locally.

Offer some promos or free trials in exchange for reviews.

If you wanna deal with ads, try adwords
