I am trying to set up a website on a new VPS and after transfered the site to it, i check with command free - m as some guys suggested here, its telling me I used 70% ram usage on whole server. I feel my website is running slowly now, I want to know how many percentages of free RAM should I have on my VPS to help it run smoothly?

Well , What is the VPS configuration ? , are you hosting multiple websites on it ? what cache technology are you using ? is the server optimized ?

share the above details and you will have to do the analysis of the above things too.

Here is its specs

1 Core
2.4 GHz
4 GB RAM
30 GB SSD
Local RAID 10

I am transferring a few sites to it, no caching because I have not installed any, new to VPS and server is not optimized too.

If your site is running slow, it could have many other reasons just like the RAM. 4 GB should be enough to run many sites, WP, ecommerce etc. The main reason could be wrong configured VPS (DB server, httpd, etc.)

You need to understand if you already do not, how Linux uses RAM.

Linux likes to take as much RAM as possible to use for cache as it far faster than accessing data from disk even SSD but gives it back to the system when a program needs it.

Past your free -m output and I'll show you the true figure of your available RAM
