How to show line numbering in nano when opening a file in Linux

I use nano editor to edit file in Linux but it doesn't display line numbers, how can I enable this function in nano? or there is a way to make nano to automatically show line numbering each time I open a file?

Hi Chris

You can enable line numbers in a couple of ways.

1. CTRL + C
2. Launch nano with line numbering: nano -c [filename]

nano -c filename works fine for me. Did you include the [] ?

No don't include the [] that's just in my example to specify the file

just use nano -c filename
