I am considering the following two cheap SSL certificates for my site:

1. RapidSSL
2. Comodo Positive SSL

Which one is better and more advantages?

As I read that RapidSSL is single root certificate as against Comodo Positive SSL which is chained root. Is this important? RapidSSL does not secures both www.domain.com as well as domain.com while Comodo did. Is this true? and Comodo Positive SSL has an unlimited reissuance policy which RapidSSL does not.

Can anyone give me any comparisons between paid SSL services. Thanks in advance.

If you want to get a SSL certificate, letsencrypt, startssl and Cloudflare provide it for free, with both www and root domain. The only certificate to purchase is the EV certificate (with the green bar with company name), which require to be a company and a complete verification to be issued. But for any other certificate, there is no advantages to use a paid or a free certificate.

I believe the only advantage now to purchase SSL are the $ guarantee associated with them. See the issuers sites to see what dollar value they back for the security of your site.

They are exactly the same from a buyer's point of view (and a user's). They are both Domain Validated. RapidSSL does indeed secure domain.com and www.domain.com. PositiveSSL is cheaper but I prefer GeoTrust as a company. I've only just started using Comodo again after 7-8 years. We used them when they first entered the market but had customer support related issues so dropped them for GeoTrust. But now PositiveSSL is so cheap they can't be ignored. :)

We used Let's Encrypt for control panel certificate but they work just fine. Just the 3 month renewal is a bit of a hassle.

Never use StartSSL any more. Read this Wikipedia entry. They will be (or already are) untrusted.

My personal suggestion is Positive SSL as it is cheaper. It's really about brand, though. Never buy these certificates from the CA themselves. Go through a reseller, you will get it cheaper.

Technically they are all the same. Some certificates offer to secure both www and non www while other offer this through a multi domain or wildcard cert. Protection wise both are technically the same. If your requirement involves needing to secure both www and non www, then go with comodo.

Normally you would only have one version of it running on your site for the sake of SEO which mean if you want to use non www for your domain, you would generally reroute all www to the non www version and vice versa so generally speaking you would only need to secure either one. Just keep in mind that you cannot reroute an SSL secured version to a non SSL version. Which mean if you have setup the SSL on the WWW version, then you cannot reroute that to non www as it will throw a security error.

Thank you for your advice so I know which I should go with. To be honest I tried comodo but it is bought from my web host and its pretty complex when I have to ask my web hosting to buy this service and integrate it on my site. Should I go directly to Comodo and buy it or still using the way as contacting my web hosting to have this service?

Its is way cheaper from your hosting provider or any other who offers ssl as separated services.
Comodo offers SSL from $76.95, I think that your provider have it for $20?

You will get it cheaper from places like http://ssls.com or http://gogetssl.com than directly with Comodo. Your hosting company is probably much cheaper.

Why should I get SSL services from my hosting provider that not buy directly from SSL service provider?
I think it is complex if I buy from hosting provider and ask/wait them to send to me and not sure they will provide me all account info or documents.

You'd be suprised at how many people have difficulty in installing an SSL certificate. One of the benefits of buying from your hosting provider is that they will assist you in installing.

1. >> Which one is better and more advantages?

There are no "advantages", both work of the same way. The only advantage is that Rapid is cheaper

2. >> RapidSSL does not secures both www.domain.com as well as domain.com

That's wrong - it does

They are pretty much the same certificate as state above. If you are looking for the better choice i would recommend EV certificate or services like letsencrypt ssl. Issuance doesn't really help once you are hacked as there no go back from that from that from a customer stand point or google unless you are big.

I am sorry accidental posted the message and could not edit. The message should have read that both certificate are the same. There no point in get any issuance policy as it has become a moot point with customer and seo now. As your reputation will be tarnish either way and your seo ranking will fall. I recommend focus more on other forms of security than just a ssl .
