As newbies (or affiliate marketers in general), do you think it's okay to buy through your own affiliate link? One of my internet marketing friends was telling me the other day that they noticed some of the people that requested to be affiliates on JVZoo only did so in order to buy through their own link, so they could get a discount. While I've always thought this was a bit of unethical and sketchy, she also told me that product creators on JVZoo can now look and see how much traffic certain people send, can tell whether they buy through their own link (thought they could do this before now but apparently not) and so on. My point is that now, product creators can look and ban affiliates who do this. She also told me that there is a list going around of banned affiliates, so all of the product creators will know - don't be one of them.

Yes. You are right. You cannot buy at your affiliate link. It is not ethical and legal. How can you get commission with your own links. In case, you want to do it in legal way, you can ask someone to buy it for you. Then it will be fine.

I have never used or joined JVZoo but I do know that this kind of thing isn't allowed for most if not all affiliate programs around. I don't know why people would think it would be any different at JVZoo.

It's definitely unethical and I would not recommend doing this. If you get a bad reputation on the web these days, you will never be able to hide from it!

I don't think that buying through your own JVZoo affiliate link is wise since most affiliate programs are against this practice. I have been signing up for many affiliate programs over the last several months and I haven't seen one where it is allowed.

You will only get banned for such practice, previously publishers used to do this, just to check if the offer is converting for them or not, but then the networks noticed this and do not tolerate such stuff.
