I have a keyword I rank #4 on Google for from my laptop, but page 3 for on my iphone!!! What am I missing here, that Google drops my rank back so far on mobile? Could things like load speed be a big SEO factor? Page size? Layout? Are those kind of things weighted more than on-site and off-site markup + social signals? Is there some type of markup that I could look to, or back away from when optimizing so I am not dropped so far back for mobile? I can't do too much about load speeds I think, a little optimization, but there is almost just text and a few graphics on my mainpage, nothing too intense....

Any help is super appreciated....

You shouldn't be checking your ranking with Google unless you're manually doing it in incognito mode. And even with incognito mode I've seen inaccurate ranking.

Use a good rank tracker and then check your ranking. Either way, your ranking is going to fluctuate depending on location, personalized search, cookies, and various other factors.

There are a few ways.. Google for Business would be the best overall solution. the other option would be to use schema.org markup on your pages to identify location hours of operation etc.

Hello,

Did you optimize your website for mobile ?
You should test if your webiste is mobile friendly with the google tool :
https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly

If your website is not mobile friendly and if your competitors are, that can explain why your ranking on mobile are lower.

Hello,

Yes, the loading time is important, especially for mobile serps. You can check your loading time with GTMetrix or Google tool :https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed

I just go to your website and i got this message : "Error 508. Resource Limit Is Reached"
Before optimize your website, you should solve your hosting issues.

I have been trying. The say that the SQL queries take too long with Joomla CMS. They lent me an SQL expert on their team who optimized the tables and made sure the duplicate entries were removed, etc. I am not an SQL guy myself, so I am at their mercy at the moment. I don't understand how, 10 years ago, on shared hosting, with a website double this traffic....I had very little downtime. I purchased their business SSD server service for hosting, they said that it won't speed up my SQL issues though, trust me it is killing me, because Joomla is a great CMS and I have been using it for a long time with no situations like this.

Joomla is really a good CMS, so the issue does not come from this. Do you know if others have the same problem like you with your hosting ?

Now i have this error on your website :
Error displaying the error page: Application Instantiation Error: Could not connect to PDO: SQLSTATE[HY000] [1226] User 'stephbmn_nctest' has exceeded the 'max_user_connections' resource (current value: 30)

You should contact your hosting to solve these problems, because they really can impact on your rankings.

A couple of things. First of all, as you now know, Google has separate rankings for desktop and mobile searches. However, I have never seen a site with that big of a discrepancy and frankly, despite all the crap Google has put out there about mobile rankings, I just have not seen their mobile algorithm really punish sites that are not mobile friendly nor reward sites that are mobile friendly. I am tacking some sites that are as mobile unfriendly as you can imagine and they are in competitive spaces. Their rankings have actually improved on mobile search since Google's little mobile update. I think it was mostly a PR stunt to get webmasters to do what they wanted.

What is more likely the cause of your discrepancy is that you were seeing personalized results on your desktop and something closer to your real rankings on your phone.

Second, social signals are not a ranking factor in either desktop or mobile rankings, so that is not a problem.

It sounds like your host sucks. I would consider switching hosting.

Lastly, I would really recommend you get rid of that signature you have. I know the chances are slim that anyone at Google would catch wind of it, although if you think they don't visit SEO forums you are crazy, but if they do see that it looks like a big sign saying "Hey Google this my is trying to game rankings. I dare you to penalize it."

Very good, sig changed. You might be right about me being logged in, sometimes I forget to check that. And yes, this hosting issue .... has been stressing me to no end. I don't want to go through the hassle of moving everything over and rechecking everything to see what might be broke in the process. I am talking with Rochenhost about moving to them with a full Cpanel move, I really should commit and make the change. I really thought that they could flip a switch or something at this host or I could just pay more, and I did. I upgraded, and it didn't fix anything.

Although you shouldn't check yourself with your own devices without properly clearing them, one small reason is simply because of screen size. Also, mobile sites are given a priority on cell phones (and soon everywhere else).

Loading search results matters in this case. As for mobile, google tries make the page mobile friendly that is with less data load. This probably could affect the search results rankings.

The reason being Google's strategy to prioritize websites that are mobile friendly to rank on mobile searches. It is logical as user experience is all that matters, and the fact that majority of the crowd uses mobile to search for information.

Now a days, google gives priority to the mobile searches rather than desktop. It is based on the priority. Today's mostly websites are mobile friendly which helps to increase the user engagement. There is no big difference in both of them but the fact is priority.

If we analyze both of them, then it shows different results in SERP of Google. But, today google consider mobile searches more rather than desktop.
