Hi Lisa,

I would seriously recommend you consult a tax professional regarding the e-commerce piece! There are also many nexus laws so you want to cover that and other things!

Lisa,

Can you please share a bit more details about your product (your country of origin, prospective markets, etc.) so as we can provide you with some at least basic answers. They can vary substantially depending on this.

Hi Lisa,

Yes indeed you need to aware of local/national tax laws etc...

Currently there is a raging debate on new EU tax laws which is requesting digital marketers that sell ebooks to charge VAT applicable to buyers nationality and for you to then collect that and pay it... For more info checkout: http://www.business2community.com/marketing/youre-selling-ebooks-digital-products-bad-news-01096829

Many are choosing to ignore it (and I dont blame them) or working around it with using Clickbank, JVZoo etc whom can handle that for you...

Also make sure to speak to an accountant and understand your own National laws with regards to online income and paying taxes etc...

Best of Luck!

Sid

Although most of us have some great experience when it comes to online marketing, I don't think you are going to find the answer you are looking for without talking to a tax consultant around your area. I hate this time of the year LOL time to find out how much I owe Uncle Sam.

A Tax consultant will let you know how much you need to make before it can be taxed as well as what you can deduct.

Ecommerce presents a major challenge role in the administration of different tax challenges, whereas if you want know about the sales tax then it is a tax which is levied on sales of goods. I think in India sales is levied if you purchase anything from online store.

US marketers who are choosing to ignore the EU VAT issue should be aware that every OECD country, basically that's everyone, has already committed to enforcing each others tax rules.

It's supposed to be fully implemented by January 2016
