What is the fastest and most effective way of learning CSS?

I want to research from home, at my own pace as opposed to going to classes or getting a mentor.

Any excellent techniques out there?

CSS is one of the important part of web site in which you can maintain overall website structure like page height, width, color, fonts etc. If you want to learn CSS effectively then you should use w3school which is the best tutorial for learning CSS.

CSS works hand in hand with HTML; HTML sorts out the page structure, CSS makes it look pretty and adds subtle levels of interaction. As a web designer you should really get to grips with both these languages. Even if you don't do the coding yourself, understanding how they work will help you design for the web.

For learning the CSS. I would suggest you to visit Lynda.com and see the video tutorials. If you interested for reading material than visit w3schools. It is also great site for learning I also suggest you Code Academy - free online lessons. I suggest you to go with one of these for a better learning.

Learn while you are creating a real website, it's the best way to learn and remember CSS codes effectively.
Also you can go w3school or css zengarden as references :)

Hi,

You can learn CSS at any of these websites:

1.Code School
2.Tree House
3.FreeCodeCamp
4.Codewars
5.Lynda
6.Udacity
7.Next Academy
8.Khan Academy
9.Edabit
10.W3Schools
11.CodeCademy

Note that some are them you have to pay monthly or yearly.

The best thing is that you can learn at your own pace!

There's a lot of cascading style
sheets (CSS) tutorials in YouTube
and there are also cool power point
tutorials available for free online.
You should start there.

I prefer reading some books about HTML and CSS or watch some tutorials given by some known person in Youtube or something. I guess this would help you to learn more about HTML and CSS. This also helps you to create a simple website with the use of your own bare hands using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript also! This is how I learn to use HTML and CSS in web development.

There are a lot of different techniques when learning something like that, youtube videos, academy-type sites, and books.
I prefer none of those... When I was learning CSS I taught myself the basics (the syntax), searched for it around the web. When I completed that, I just started building my website without knowing what exists and what doesn't, so whenever I had an idea of what I should do with a certain element, I searched the web, most of the time W3School would pop out and I would just scroll through it learning it in a few seconds.
My point is, don't try to learn it all at once, learn everything, but only when you need it. If you learn something when you need it, you won't ever forget it.

Well tbh CSS is pretty simple once you understand what it is and how it works.

I would always suggest for anyone who is considering beginning something new in life that they should read a book about it first, this way you will know if you are good at something or not,and you will understand basics and either get motivated to start learning or just give up and find something better to do.
The books ive read were Learn Web Design by Jennifer Niederst Robbins and Smashing Web Design book #2.

But if you are someone who just wants to start learning right away, today in 2018 there are so many resources and valuable websites to chose from.

So here are my recommendations, and I would suggest you to start from the free method, and advance to the payed ones (if you even need to)

This is a free website where you will learn almost everything about web design www.w3schools.com
-For CSS just go to www.w3schools.com/Css/ . This website doesnt focus on CSS it focuses on all aspects of web design and it should be considered as your goto website,if you are having any issues you should be able to find a way to resolve them here.

Of course then there is YouTube, that is filled with information worth gold,if you can find them. :D
I would suggest using YouTube mutually with w3schools,for the best resluts. That way you will know exactly what to look for as you are going trough lessons on w3schools.

There are also websites where you can learn even more, and in possibly better ways then doing it yourself.
So these websites prioritize teaching you with videos and projects that you start working on after you pick your course.
Prices for courses usually are pretty cheap considering the value that you will get out of them.
The best website for any kind of courses in my opinion is udemy.com
-Heres the direct link for CSS courses on udemy www.udemy.com/courses/search/?q=css&src=ukw
You can see each courses rating as well as the number of hours and lectures you need to go trought.

There are more ways to learn CSS and webdesign ofc,but these ways worked for me,and some of my friends, and I hope that they will help somebody else :)
