On my website I'm not collecting any personal information or credit cards through forms. Is it still recommended to make my site https? What about your websites? Does your site really need HTTPS? Any thoughts?

I believe Google recently released a statement that if you're using HTTPS your website will be closer to the top of the Google search results. I could be wrong though. I'll try looking into this

If you don't have any forms on your site or don't care search engines as Google then you can ignore HTTPS on your site.
Vice versa, it can help a bit for SEO for your site since Google required this as an SEO factor and making your site secure from visitors.

cPanel and other control panels now support a free SSL offering so there's no reason not to have a secure site. It'll help with your rankings too!

Your site will be better with an SSL Certificate than without it. Here are a few reasons why you should add an SSL cert to your blog or personal site:

1. It will protect your visitors' sensitive data (ok, you don't process any payments, but what about your contact page, or email subscription? they still collect information)

2. It will make your site more professional, and increase your online authority

3. It will give you an SEO boost

4. You will have a competitive edge in your niche over the websites that are still on HTTP

I think it's also a piece of mind type thing. I know a lot of older people would avoid sites arent https. It really does make me feel better when I go on a website and having the idea that my stuff is probably secure even though its technically not always the case
