I am just curious how long does it take for a website to get the first sale if we don't use advertising for it and only use SEO to get customers from search engines?

Depends on the keywords and niche and competition in that niche. That is really hard to forecast as SEO is very complicated and really slow in results.
But that is still something what worth to be completed.

Totally depends on what you selling , how much time you are investing and how much effort or money you spending on marketing .

Also what kind of ecommerce platform you are that is one big factor . But usually profit can be turned out in 1 days with sale of $20 ticket size items and if two sold you are profitable provided using the platform I am using now .

But in real sense to be profitable with substantial profit usually takes 2–3 months if moderate amount of time and effort it put in social marketing and paid marketing .

It's very difficult to say. It really depends on many factors. What you sell, what ecommerce platform you are.

There is a perception that many of the techniques used by SEOs are outdated and no longer relevant. But that's about adjusting the material on the page to the specific requirements of other evaluation mechanisms. If we talk more globally about optimisation and the dozens of different methods of its implementation, then it is still useful. It's worth doing, it's worth spending time on.

And of course the most powerful factor is promotion and advertising. There are plenty of ways, both paid and free. Just so the site itself as a rule doesn't work.

I got first sale after 3 months launched a new website but of course I invested more for it from ads or SEO which are great source to get new clients. :)

Bit of a vague question. So many factors to take into consideration.

Strength of domain, what keywords you are targeting? How old is the site? What are you selling?
