Yes, there is. I'm sure you use the Google search engine of your country i.e Google.fr, Google.uk, Google.za e.t.c I think what Google tries to do is to serve it's customers worldwide. It tries to make sure that when you search for something you find a result that is most relevant to you depending on your location. A few years ago any search result would bring up a Us related result. Yet you may be looking for schools, restaurants, churches, and clubs in your area. In my opinion, Google is just getting ahead of the competition, it is a matter of time before someone realizes to fill this gap and give Google a run for their money.

You are so right when you said "Yet you may be looking for schools, restaurants, churches, and clubs in your area". If this is the case you don't want every possible answer coming up, you want those anwers relevant to you. What Google really does, is uses your data to optimize your search. So if your location (GPS) is on and Google is 'allowed' to access it, when you do a search, you will most likely get results from that location.

Hey,

I believe it depends with what country you are from and they make our searches more significant to us where we are located. I think that Google has a way to know what our location is and provide our searches that has a connection to what we are searching in our hometown.

The latest bulletin published by Google dated October 27, 2017 via Product Manager Evelyn Kao entitled Making Search Results More Local And Relevant” best explained your query regarding location affecting Google search results.

Just to share with you my recap on this article, choice of country service in Google nowadays will no longer be indicated by domain but by default corresponding to the country of actual location. Google believes it can better improve users' search experience by bringing more relevant accurate results since one out of five searches on Google is related to location. This procedure will be applied to Google searches and maps on mobile devices and desktops.

Also, if you prefer to use another country service, you just scroll down the Google page. Right down below the country indicator, find settings and change region of location to your preferred country.

I believe location affects yes to google search. The artificial intelligence that google uses is quite efficient, you just observe that every search you perform will affect your next search, since the suggestions that will be given by google will be based on the searches that have already been carried out by the user.

It is also possible to observe that the results obtained are generally data based on locations close to their GPS location, which influences the platform search.

I think the answer is yes, because everytime I search news in google the top result are the news here in the philippines. or maybe it depends on what you search because I also try to search "artist" the results are the artist around the world and not here in the philippines. if someoe can really answer this question correctly I will be glad to know if my location really afect the google search results.

Indeed! the search result varies completely based on the location you are currently at. These are the things that the google employees are after. To make the most accurate search result. Guess what, The search result may also depend on the previous search you've made and the advertisements you clicked. Always be careful of what type and search online.....

Yes, I believe that location can affect google search. This function is actually an filtering process for google to ensure that they will only provide you with the relevant information and they will fit to your needs.

This is why google asks us to login on chrome and Gmail. With our personal information loaded in the search engine, Google will be able to filter which sites and information it should distribute to you when you need it. However, I think the filtering is not as rigid as we my expect it to be. If the details you are looking for are available in the websites in your location (country), then it will display results only relevant to your location. However, if you are specific with your search, like putting a specific city or country, or a specific website that originates outside your country, Google will display your desired results and not just what is relevant to your location.

Great answers so far. It's all about relevancy as Google profits by pointing you to the most relevant results in your search query. They want you to see and click through on ads displayed on your searches. This is way they developed their quality scores for AdWords.
