Original domain extension for a sport website?

One of the many niches I've considered writing some articles about is sports. Sometimes, I like to think of possible domains for a website to put all of this stuff in, and I personally find it to be extremely entertaining. However, domain extensions are always a pain in the neck to come up with.
What do you think would work best for an original name? .racing sounds amazing to me, but I'm afraid that would be a little too... restrictive.

may be you should try dot sport. I hear that dot sport is now open for registration. Dot sport could be an ideal domain extension for a sports website. you could also try dot club. for instance your website with football niche could be football dot club (just a thought).

Check the renewal price. Many of this new domains are extremely high priced when its time to renew.
Another suggestion i can help you with is .space.
Looks like a good domain for several different projects including sports website imo.

I love specific extensions, I agree, but I prefer something with more room for manoeuvre to broach different subjects. .sport would be amazing, but is it available for use?

Yeah, that's the usual trick every domain registrar pulls. I usually wait for multi-year discounts exactly for that reason (switching from a registrar to the other just to snag the lowest price each year sounds like too much of a hassle to me).
