I bought dot online domain a year ago. It cost be 88 cents, the domain was in promotional phase. However, I had to pay $32 for renewal. If I had a dot com, I will have renewed the domain for three years for this price. When you are registerig a domain, you should also consider about the real price. never get a domain just becaus it is low priced. You migh end up paying a huge sum for renewal.

The only extension cheaper than .com and .net are .xyz, .top or .pw. All other new tld are pretty expensive.
Namecheap discount are not a good idea. I prefer internetbs with now fees for private whois, and no excessive discounts.

I have couple of xyz domains. I registered these domains during the promotion period on namecheap. I got them for 88 cents. However, I had to pay $7 during the renewal. renewal of dot com is just about $10 and dort com is thought to have more value than the xyz.

One solution, if your renewal costs are much higher, would be to transfer the domain name to another registrar with cheaper renewals.

You always have to read the fine print when you renew. They always will say pay $0.88 and offer to renew it for $32. You just must have overlooked that part of the registration when you bought your domain name. And I am not offering any advice or anything like that the new TLD's are nice. But I always try and get the .com because most people are going to go to the .com by accident when you give them your website address.

Yea, but if you're talking about a site for professional use, dot com end up transmiting more professionalism. Altho $32 it's a bit expensive for a renewal.
