Either I'm a free spirit or just cheap, but I love Open-source software, for those not familiar with it, It's free, and the code is available for everyone to tinker with.
My first inclination toward any computing task is: can I do it for free, and painlessly. paying software like the Adobe family are not for every one, some of them even have certificate, and that's enough for me to be scared.
Here's some open-source software I use, what's yours?
If not, let me convince you?

I have taken snapshots along with the description, so I don't have to explain each one.
You can describe what do you want to achieve and I'll try to find some open-source alternative for you.

I have tried many open source softwares and tools. I have used GIMP. It is one of the best open source designing tool. However, I did not continue with GIMP, the only reason for not using it was because I already had photoshop and I was learning Photoshop. I am using wordpress on my websites and blogs, which is also an open sourse CMS.

You are making a confusion between open-source and free. An open-source software is not necessarily free.
And even when it's free, you have to respect the software's license terms.

I have forgotten all about CMSs being completely opensource, thank for bringing it to the list.

I just focused on the fact that we don't have to pay for an open-source software, something a simple user could be interested in, in terms of productivity. the software license agreement issue should be taken seriously when a programmer modify the source code and try to sell it.

For me the issue is not to pay for a program, but to not be able to see what the program exactly do. For example, with each new Windows release, it require more resources, and include more analytics, ads and other privacy issues as well as vulnerabilities, just because they don't want to make their code available online.

I don't really use that many open-source software, because I have easy access to a lot paid ones, however in a lot of cases, where I've needed certain software for specific cases, open-source ones have helped me a lot, because usually you would either have to pay a lot of money for something or it won't really do the job you need. GIMP is a really good recommendation for people that can't get Photoshop.

I still have some paid software on my Mac, some of them are just there for comparison.
