The list price of something is the original posted price. For example, say you need a dedicated server with a /26 allocation of IP addresses for a virtualization company. Well the list price of the additional IPs might be $150, but know it isn't costing the provider that much to offer them. The point is as a business person, it is important to learn how to negotiate deals. Instead of just ordering the server, contact their sales team and work the price down to maybe $120 or $100.

I used this example because I did something similar a while back. I worked a /27 allocation down from $60 to $15 ;)

If you don't negotiate business deals, then really you aren't in the business of making money but you are simply lining the pockets of another company a.k.a a consumer

Like a used car dealership :) Always negotiate a deal. It's like some providers or online businesses don't show their prices online because it's all about negotiation. But then they are also playing the game of starting higher, working with client to provide a better lower price but is really the providers actual price target...

Right! Also another thing to note, unless you are buying from a huge company such as GoDaddy, if you present yourself as a client that will be worth the hosts time, it is likely you will almost ALWAYS be able to negotiate lower prices than their list.
