How much should you spend on Wordpress themes?

I wonder what people are willing to pay for Wordpress themes nowadays, seeing that it is getting more and more popular by the day. A lot of themes on Themeforest cost quite a hefty amount such as 30$ or more, and I wonder if people are actually willing to spend that much if they are just starting out?

I myself used Themeforest for a while, and purchased around 3-4 themes they had, but at the end I found everything too costly. Afterwards I switched to Elegantthemes by buying a lifetime account and found that it would be a lot more worth it due to the fact that I would have paid 2.8$ for lifetime access to a particular theme, with everything that goes with it such as PSD files, developer rights etc.

This is not a promotion for Elegantthemes but I'm just curious as to what you guys think about this.

Well, I do know that the hosting niche, and maybe a few others, literally requires money to get a theme. However, though, the price for hosting themes vary. Anyway, with other stuff besides hosting, whether or not you would want to pay would probably depend on how good the free and low cost themes were. If they were not in line with what you want, then you might consider paying more.

I bought more themes from Themeforest and here are some themes I bought

It costs around $59 each one and I don't think it is expensive if that is benefit for developing a new site.
Also, they are being used on my websites and pretty good.

I checked Elegantthemes but I would stick with Themeforest because it has many themes there which will give me more choices on themes.
The price is not important because when you could select a good theme which fits your requirements then the decision for purchasing a theme is very fast.

I like to take a free theme and use it for the base then create my own masterpiece. It saves on costs and lets me express myself on my own site. I have gotten some real compliments. If money is an issue, try it yourself. You will find that as you learn different things, it will stick with you and will be valuable down the road.

I think buying a good theme can be a good idea if you're starting a site, cause that way you can test, if the things don't go as you expected, it's good to know you only bought a theme and no more even if it cost $30.

Anyways, if you're doing a website for your business or a hobby and you don't care the result, it can be a better option to buy a good account as you did.
