I have my own copy of Photoshop CS6, but not Lightroom. As someone that likes to edit videos in her free time as well as edit pictures, I think Photoshop is more useful for me. It has a variety of functions, like the alpha, refining, and layer mask tools to cut the background out of images or cut an image out of a background. You can make cool designs with texts and download many different fonts. You can play with the clipping mask to make things like graphs, histograms, or other presentation pictures. Overall, it's a cool application. With Lightroom, I would feel limited because it's best for people that are doing casual photo editing. It doesn't offer the variety of features that Photoshop contains. I trust Photoshop better for videos and photo editing. What is your preference?

Light room and Photoshop are both great apps. Light room is a basic photo editing app where you can adjust pictures and carry out some basic photo editing.

Photoshop is great for editing pictures also. You have the curve and all. You can also use Photoshop to make creative graphics design and cartoons.

I say the two are needed. I use both.

My Boss is a dentist photographer, I always see his works in his laptop and he's using Lightroom most of the time. I once tried using it too when it comes to photo editing, I also use Photoshop. I think, my options will always depend on what kind of project I'm doing. But I love some cool features of Lightroom wherein I don't need to worry about the "save us" button, all my edits are kept automatically. I can share my photos directly to Facebook, and I can organize and import images easily. In short, Lightroom is much more ideal and easier to use for beginners.

Both software are great. I will depend on how are you going to use those software. Well Photoshop has an advantage since it has a lot of features or functions that you can use. I use Photoshop for editing photos or like doing some mock up web design. I use Light room for some photo touch-up or like adding some drama to the images. The advantages of using Light room is, it is easily and convenient to use.

Photoshop because it's for quality design purposes. If you're into designs that needed a higher grade output then photoshop is the best for you. Lightroom only showcase minimal inputs but not bad for beginners. The use of photoshop is also intended for business minded people that creates logo and designs for better results.

As you've mentioned on your comment, it all depends on what you're going the be using the program for. I personally believe that Photoshop is useful for both picture/image editing and video editing. Even though video editing tools aren't as wide as they are in some other programs, they really work well for basic edition. That being said, if you're new at video editing, Photoshop could be a plus for you, also, I consider PS better than any other program for image editing.

I can say that if you are a beginner, you can use Lightroom, because it is easier to use and you can have a nice edited picture in doing basic steps. However, if you are more on an advance level of editing, you can try to learn Photoshop. It is quite complex to learn, but you will surely enjoy the results of it.

For me, when I was into photography it depends on whether I am in the mood for a fast editing, on which I will use Lightroom , but if I have lots of time, I sometimes use Photoshop.

Both application are great and work well if you mix them both on what ever you're working with. But to my own personal opinion I think photoshop is still better than lightroom in a few good reasons. One main reason is that lightroom only focuses on photo editing while photoshop can be used in so much variety of work ranging from photo editing, painting, creating web template, vector or vexel and now that photoshop cs6 is out you can already edit videos with it.

Hi there!

I prefer Photoshop. Function wise, there are things that Lightroom cannot do. From basic to advance Photoshop is well-known and more useful. The use of Lightroom is more specific and limited. Although both of them are user friendly and easy to use. Also, base from what you have mention that you also having fun with editing videos Photoshop better suits you.

Both programs are good but both programs require skills and experience. You need to understand the concept behind photo editing. I personally use both. Whenever I shoot, I use Photoshop for blemishing and some sort of edits and afterwards, I import it in Lightroom for color correction. Photoshop is good for the overall appearance and lightroom is used for color correction and color balance. Both produces good result. But if you are a professional photographer, make sure that you shoot in RAW for the maximum use of both programs.

I prefer Photoshop. It is way better because it is like an all in one editing software. You can change the background, add layers, mix images, add filters and a whole lot more. You can do anything with Photoshop. You just have to let your creative side come out.

I prefer both, Photoshop has it all compare to Lightroom. Both have different features and functions. You can use Photoshop to edit defect photos while in Lightroom you can only adjust its tone, contrast, and such filters. If you want a good quality of photo I suggest to use Photoshop cause all the things you need is in Photoshop.

I agree with Jeniffer, I like both, for different reasons. Lightroom, because its great for changing the tone of photos, but I have to admit Photoshop i will always be a bigger fan of due to it being easier to learn and also, better tutorials around and they update features on a regular basis, I prefer to edit my photos via Photoshop. People are saying Lightroom is easier to use, but I disagree.

For me i prefer to use Photoshop, Because it's better to use to editing pictures and it's easy to use also when i was in college i don't have any idea to use Photoshop but when i learned to use that app it's amazing you can edit your background in your photos you can merge two people in one place so amazing and fun to use. and in lightroom i don't have any idea to use that. that's why Photoshop is my choice.

Since Photoshop has already established it's reputation. It has become our first stop when it comes to altering or improving images. But honestly Photoshop is just too expensive compared to Lightroom. Yes, Photoshop offers a lot more features compared to Lightroom but personally, I don't mind. As a beginner, Lightroom is easier to learn and more convenient. My only complaint about it is that it can only be used in photos unlike Photoshop which is used for a variety of graphics like creating a poster, brochure, or flyers.
