Hi there

Can anyone advise if Google will register .com.au domains

I have had problems with them transferring a domain and I can't get a sensible answer out of their support

They keep saying there are issues with business details which there aren't since they have been registered in .com.au without trouble for very many years

Thanks

I tried to transfer a .com.au, and it gave an error message. I asked support what the error was about, they checked with a supervisor and told me they didn't register .com.au.

Thats my original question. I'm not sure that is true. Do they register .com.au domains

Yes, Google can register .com.au domains, but there are specific eligibility requirements that must be met in order to register a domain in this TLD.

To register a .com.au domain, you must meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
  1. You must be an Australian registered company with an Australian Business Number (ABN).
  2. You must be a foreign company registered in Australia with an Australian Registered Body Number (ARBN).
  3. You must be a sole trader operating under a registered business name.
  4. You must be an Australian partnership or joint venture.
  5. You must be a trademark owner in Australia.
If you meet one of these criteria and are still having issues transferring your domain, it's possible that there may be other issues with your business details or with the transfer process itself. I would suggest contacting your domain registrar or a qualified domain transfer specialist for further assistance with the issue.

Google does not directly offer domain registration services for country-code top-level domains (ccTLDs) such as .com.au domains. These domains are specific to Australia and are typically registered through accredited domain registrars that are authorized by the Australian domain authority.

If you are interested in registering a .com.au domain, you would typically need to go through an accredited domain registrar in Australia that is authorized to provide and manage .au domain registrations. These registrars are responsible for complying with the registration requirements and policies set by the respective country's domain authority. If you want more information about google domains registrar then read this.

However, please note that circumstances and services can change over time. It's possible that there have been developments or changes in Google's offerings or partnerships since my last update. I recommend checking the official Google domains website or contacting Google directly for the most current information regarding domain registration services they provide.

Google can register .com.au domains, and they have done so in the past. If you're facing issues with the transfer, it's crucial to persist with their customer support. Clearly outline your problem, provide all necessary documentation, and insist on a detailed explanation. Escalate the issue if required, and consider seeking assistance from domain registration authorities or legal channels if the problem persists. Communication and persistence are key in resolving domain transfer issues with service providers.
