I have a website with 5 email accounts and there are 2 accounts has 5 GB data on each email account. How to download these email data to my PC to create backups?

Email data is stored in:
Code:
/home/$username/mail/$domain.com/email-account-username
There is no automated tools to backup emails unfortunately.

I think the mail format by default is Maildir.
I would guess that you would create mail account on the new server and transfer the mail dir folder. Anyone done it?

Very unprofessional and unadvisable way would be to copy all those emails to your email program's (Outlook etc) one of folders (just drag it there), and after creating new account drag them to that new account's appropriate folders. I don't know how to do that with 10GB and I'm not familliar with Cpanel, so please do not consider this very seriously, but in general this trick works.

Try to remove emails which is not useful. I had 10GB email accounts then one day I removed all emails related to logs and email size was reduced to 400MB ;)

1. Generate backup of email only using cPanel backup feature and download it to your PC.
2. Then sync only last 30 ~ 60 days emails to your main program?
