My website has already a responsive design but some people suggested that I should have an app for mobile users. Is that true? What is the difference between responsive design and dedicated app? do they have any benefits or advantages?

Choosing between a dedicated mobile website and a responsive website has implications :

A responsive website adapts to the type of device being used to access it. For each visitor, the website will automatically adjust the layout of its content to match the visitor’s screen size.

You should choose mobile app when:
  1. The business is very active online and needs a quick solution to expand the sales activity to a wider audience
  2. A mobile version is required to make the main function available for the target audience but time and budget are limited
  3. A temporary solution is needed until the legacy codebase is converted into a new online presence.

Responsive design can help you solve a lot of problems for your website. It will make your site mobile-friendly, improve the way it looks on devices with both large and small screens, and increase the amount of time that visitors spend on your site.

Responsible design is the demand of the present. Think about the following: what issues can users solve with your website and does an app can help in it? If this app can make access to your website content and functions easier and faster, if you and your clients clearly understand for what purpose they have to install your app on their devices than it's better to have a dedicated app.

No. Responsive design is a must. The apps are trying to sell you their product. Google will not like it either unless you have a responsive design. You need to contact some web designers too and see what they say. The problem here now is you have opinions on both sides muddling your issue. Responsive. No app!

There is an advantage of app for the mobile users, you can engage many new users from it. It is a great idea. You should implement it and don't forget to market your app.

You are right, some new users can come from App market than Google or social networks. That also helps a part in traffic for websites that having apps.

If your business has grown, and you have many customers and users, then an app can be very beneficial to your business, as it will allow them to easily buy products or services via the app. The app will build better brand awareness as well. But, if you currently don't have many users or the resources to create an app, you can leave this for later, if needed. At least, that's what I would have done if I were you.

From my point of view, I'm more likely to browse the website than search for an app to view your website.
Apps are great when they have features that the website can't offer.
Ask yourself - do you really need an app?

I would go with Responsive Design as if you have an app for your business there could be some issues sometimes where you haven't updated it for a year it slows down the web page as for responsive you don't need to keep updating it every time.
