I know this is short, but I am no SEO expert, BUT, I can
say this. If developed properly, both are just as good.

SEO is about so much more than the design of your site.
It's about content, accessibility, etc...

Also, if your site is targeting ONLY mobile users, then a
mobile theme may be the way to go, but if you're targeting
ANY or ALL users, then obviously a "primarily" mobile theme
may not be such a good idea...

As I said, I am no SEO expert, so I can't say much more
than what I said above.

Hello Dopani,

Mobile theme is no way good for SEO these days. Responsive design is the most preferable. Responsive design have sustainable SEO results on long run.

Google now prefers responsive mobile themes as they're generally faster to download. There are responsive sites that look awful though, where mobile themes would be better suited. Mobile themes offer stuff like click to call and click for directions on the front facing menu.

I have to agree with you here. One thing I'd add is finding ways to make responsive load faster like using the Bootstrap library. Since most people have already downloaded Bootstrap (like when they use a Twitter service), it is saved in their cache already. So unless they delete their cookies, the site loads on their clients very quickly.

I agree with SenseiSteve on users' aspect but for SEO, mobile themes are not good as responsive design, right?

All you've got to do to make your site "mobile ready" is to install a plugin. I use "WP Touch." It's really easy to use. If I remember correctly, I came across it because it was one of the Wordpress plugins recommended by Google back when people weren't sure how much having a mobile site would affect their rankings. The article listed a variety of blogging platforms and things you could install for each of them to make your site "mobile ready." Since I got it from there, it never occurred to me that some themes might suck.

Responsive design is more preferable. As per my view, you may not know from which device visitor is going to use to see your website. It may me desktop, tablet or mobile.

No matter what type it is, your website just needs to be mobile-friendly that will increase it's ranking for those who search through mobile devices. When you search google with an android or a mobile, Google will first look up whether the site is mobile-friendly.
