You want to start with something with administration or you are going to manage it yourself ? At the beginning you have to analyze the differences in costs are significant but the time needed to work is also different.

Exactly as it was mentioned above - you should contact game developers and find out the minimum specs etc. Sometimes this info is available on their website sometimes not. Some developers only work with a limited number of approved hosts. So you need to do some research before getting a server etc...
