Hi guys, I am building a smartphone website and building a shop/store for it but I am confusing which word should I add to the URL? "shop" or "store"?
i.e example.com/shop/ or example.com/store/
it will be a page to sell smartphones, accessories, tablets, laptops.
Please advise me.

According to C.J. Brickell the word «store» is of larger signification than the word shop. «Shop» is likely to stems from «shed» and «store» has a general sense of «sufficient supply». I'm comparing «a barbershop» and «a barber store» and feel meaning «service» in «shop» and «goods» in the word «store». British English prefers «shop» and American English sticks with «store», correct me if I'm wrong. In the end the final word is yours!

In my opinion, go for the subdomain, like shop.example.com. Use symbolic linking if necessary.

In my opinion, store sounds like... I don't know how to properly say it... More? To give a better idea of what I mean: When I hear store, I picture myself a Wallmart, whereas with shop, I think about the small building close to my home, with all basic needs, but higher prices.

Of course, shop is one digit shorter than store when you don't want to end up with long URL's.
I think it doesn't really matter whether you take shop or store, just pick whatever you think sounds the best.

Honestly store is not more longer than shop if we are comparing number of characters.

For sure.
I used shop because I got more suggestions for it here.

Hi, I think you should use store and the reason is:

Store: Generally store word is used for online websites/place where yo can buy something.
Shop: Shop is used for physical place where people visit and buy their product.

One last thing, never use subdomain like store.yourwebsite.com.
Always use yourwebsite.com/store/, by this way your website domain authority remains intact.

If you use store.yourwebsite.com, google treat it as new website.

Some years ago, we also were using forum.site.com and then we changed to site.com/forum and site.com/blog due to SEO.

Regarding Store and Shop, it is all upto your choice and nothing matters much.
