What are the differences between Cryptocurrency airdrop and bitcoins?

I am a total novice when it comes to e-currency. I wonder how they work, but recently I learnt a bit about cryptocurrency. I was told it's used for measuring online projects, and that before any online projects are established, they give out free coins. Are these coins the cryptocurrency? and what is the difference with bitcoins?

So, Bitcoin is a type of cryptocurrency. As in the case of paper money, the types are American dollars, Indian rupees, and so on. Bitcoin is often mistaken for cryptocurrency because it is the first and most popular cryptocurrency.

Airdrop

Airdrops have an open-ended crypto-monnaie free of charge on the process.
