Shared Hosting can be related to renting a flat in an apartment. Here an dedicated server is used to share multiple websites in one location, so all websites share same resources of the web server, hence the term Shared Hosting.

Shared Website Hosting is perfect for Beginners and Business Owners to host their websites. Shared hosting is Less Expensive when compared to other web hosting types.

Shared hosting should be define for beginners who are developing new websites and they are suitable to websites with small traffic. I started with a shared hosting for my first websites and when they grow, I have to move to a VPS or bigger plans are dedicated servers.

VPS is much better compare to shared hosting
Cannot say that really. There are certain overhead for VPS like you need to spend extra money for the resources, licenses and the monitoring/management. Also VPS with small resources can bring in no extra performance compared to a big shared server; so you can talk to your host if you need extra resources in shared hosting in case it is restricted. That said, its all based on your demand...but if you have low budget abd requirements, better settle with shared hosting. If you have some specific hosting requirememts which your host is not able to satisfy in shared server, then think about VPS or dedicated.

So do you think I should go in a shared hosting? or it still depends on my situation? I want something that is more cheaper but gives me a better quality so do you recommend shared hosting than VPS? Is there any VPS that is cheaper but gives a better quality or Shared Hosting is the best choice I got from now? Cheers!

If you have minimum requirements, low budget - better is shared hosting. There are many premium shared hosting providers delivering quality service around there [ siteground is something I like and what I recommended to my friends..there are many other providers also...you can check and ask for more feedback ].

Yes, shared hosting is a great choice for choosing an affordable plans. So I can say that shared hosting is not bad at least. Still, there are a lot of advantages that can be found on shared hosting even if it is a cheap hosting plans/offers. Cheers!

Shared hosting is one of the most popular way to publish a website. It requires little management of your server and is standard in the hosting business. Great for bloggers and standard website. Low cost is an other reason to use shared hosing as your provider has already purchased all hardware and software to get your site online.

The trouble with VPS hosting is that it is liable to wind up just like the shared hosting industry, vastly oversold and overfilled.

People tend to frown upon low quality shared hosting because you never know if there is enough resources available for your account to get through. If you split up CPU, Memory, and Disk I/O into shares and say that there are 100 shares of each available at any given time, well if account1 is using 60 shares of each, and account2 is using 40 shares, then there's nothing left for account3 to draw from.

Unfortunately, you're doing the same thing with a VPS. There is a node that houses all of the virtual environments (VPSs). That node has a fixed amount of resources. Again say that the node has 100 shares of CPU, Memory and Disk I/O, then if vps1 is using 70 shares and vps2 is using 30 shares, then vps3 doesn't have any shares to use.

Now obviously not every provider is going to be like this. Cheap and low quality providers will aim to stuff a server as full as possible to make as much money per server (or node) as possible.

So if you find yourself with poor performance on a shared hosting provider, don't necessarily think that moving to a VPS is going to help. If you are on a cheap, low quality (I admit, this is subjective - I don't know how you quantify this) shared hosting provider then moving to a cheap, low quality VPS provider may not net you any performance gains. Moving from a low quality shared hosting provider to a higher quality shared hosting provider may provide better performance improvements.

Likewise, if you are already on a high quality shared hosting provider and need better performance, then moving to a low quality VPS could result in even worse performance.

Everything is always going to be relative. Moving to a dedicated server is the only way you are going to know that you have dedicated resources up to the limit that that hardware provides. But then you have to look into how the datacenter housing that dedicated server is put together. How much bandwidth do they have available to you? This is probably less of an issue unless you are Google or Amazon.

Thanks for your feedback! Although I didn't understand it all very well since I am just a newbie but I guess it's kinda stay as high as possible. It seems that everything is connected when it comes to hosting. If I want a better performance for my hosts, I should stay on high quality services of hosting parties. Glad to know that! Correct me I'm wrong. Cheers!

Basically I'm just saying that there are low quality providers and high quality providers. Just because you face performance issues with one provider doesn't mean that all providers are going to be that way. It's definitely hard to know this going in, but just don't sour on a platform (shared hosting, VPS, Dedicated, etc) because of one bad apple.

This is not taking anything away from so called low quality providers. Some are legitimately wanting to learn how to run things in the industry and are just hitting bumps in the road as they learn. Others might see it as a legitimate business model - cram as many accounts on a server as possible for maximum profit. I'm not meaning to disparage any low quality providers. But just merely pointing out that there are different levels of qualities between different providers.

I just see a lot of people make the comment that if you have performance issues with shared hosting, then you need to move up to a VPS. I don't necessarily agree with that. I would recommend trying a few different shared hosting providers first. A well managed VPS is probably going to cost you - at minimum - $20/mo USD. Have you tried $10 or $15/mo shared hosting first? That's still a savings. And I would probably argue that a $15/mo shared hosting account is going to give better performance than a $20/mo VPS.

Shared Web Hosting
Shared Hosting means you are sharing space to other websites. Which means providing permission to host sites on your shared hosting server.
Advantages
  • By paying little as $1 to $ 8 per month for sharing server space to other websites.
Disadvantages
  • Your website depends on their mercy. If a site gets more traffic your site may down.
Conclusion: This type of shared hosting is most suitable for a newer site and less traffic
Suggestion: if you have low traffic or newer better to choose shared web hosting.

Hope it helps!

I don't think shared hosting will only share space with other websites on a same sever that it can be shared more factors as IP, bandwidth, CPU cores, RAM usage.
