Can you get a Domain name without costing or low cost?

In my experience with Websites, I normally use a free site that gives the option to purchase a Domain name. I have tried several over the years some of the sites have let me build and use the site for a while then I get locked out. this has happened twice. I have checked into other places and so far I have found Go Daddy is the cheapest to purchase a Domain name. I am okay with the site I use now and it is a free site. I would like to grow my website, claim a Domain, and drive more traffic to my website. My advertising is on other sites as social media and a few local places. We are a very small family owned company that are trying to build up more clients in the local towns and some surrounding. We provide a service creating quality crafted projects requested by homeowners to up fit or upgrade their homes. I think it would help me more if I were to purchase a Domain name with the website and drive customers by creating a target audience to push traffic to my website. This will cause more traffic, talk,and business helping to grow more as a company. Where do you feel the best site is in the United States to purchase a domain? Is your choice because it is cheap or are there other reasons you feel this is the best place to purchase a Domain? Can you get a website through them also? Have you tried the Free website? If you have tried the free websites, what are your thoughts on it?

There are number of domain registrar and hosting providers. You will find them by Google search. I would suggest, instead of going with free web hosting service, get the paid hosting service so it will provide all the features which are provided by the web hosting providers. There should be proper security provided by the hosting provided, because free web hosting provided do not provide the security.

You will not get the free domain registrar. You will need to pay for it.

You can buy a domain from Namecheap, Godaddy, Name.com or other domain registrars
if you want have a free website without using hosting, then blogger can be suitable to your needs. Just creating a blog and combine with domain you bought from a provided I suggested.

Yes you can have a free domain name if you buy a hosting package, some providers can offer you a free domain if you buy hosting from them or using coupon codes when buying domain names.

If you want to buy a domain name with low price, you need to use coupon codes.
I have ever bought a domain at Godaddy with $1.47 only when I use a coupon code.

Yes, some hosts offer a free domain name, usually when you opt for a long-term subscription to their services. In fact, this is a very good option because you will get a big discount and a free domain name as wel. Also, there are many domain name registrars like Namecheap, Register.com, Domain.com and others. As per the free services, I always consder the paid ones to be much better in case you intend to grow your website, as, in general, you would have more control over the service.

I got a domain free for 1 year before since it was the launch of .asia. But after 1 year you have to pay for it if you want to continue owning the domain.

I would not recommend any "free" domains as they are considered as "spam" or "scam website" domains. Something similar destroyed .xyz domain reputation, as it had a very low first year registration and was used extensively for short therm scam websites. Again I have notices some registrars offer new generic domain names for a really cheap first year registration, though later, the price for renewal is a bit higher than for gTLD or ccTLD. Having that in mind, and if your website is a project that will be taken offline under a year, you could go for one of those $1 first year registration. Else beter go for a renown domain.

FREENOM offers free domain names with various extensions.
It's a huge bonus that most of the domains are still available in those extensions.

Great answers from you all and I agree in most cases the free Domain are not as reputable as ones you pay for, but I personally have and do use a free domain. I have no problem with being able to refer clients to look at our work. I share my site on Facebook as well as I have a Facebook business page as well. When this is your side business it is not a bad Idea to use the resources available. I think if the business is your one an only business of course you should get a paid site to help do more in boosting traffic.

There are web hosting sites that offers free domain name if you buy a package. If you're going to use it for business, if would be better if you will pay for it, I think that's more reliable and secure. Just think of it as your investment and you can recoup it anytime soon when you get more traffic and orders for your business.
