I have intentions of starting my blog and/or website. I was introduced to Hostgator and Bluehost; but I want to know which one is the best? I checked out the ones listed on this site but I don't see either Hostgator or Bluehost there. I would like an administrator to answer this part. Is it that you do not recommend Hostgator or Bluehost? Let me know your thoughts please.

Bluehost is better than Hostgator. With a simple google search you will see how bad their support is though. If you've experience with hosting services and do not require any support, any of both will work, if you want questions to be answered within a reasonable time, none of the two will be suitable.

Thank you for responding. I see a lot of 'hype' being built around both Web Hosters but when I did my research I found that Bluehost seem to be more reliable thus more popular. Another though is, the annual fees have to be paid the moment you sign-up right? Because they charge a monthly fee, but it is billed annually.

Many providers offer discounts for yearly billings. However, if you ask my opinion, I would purchase first a monthly package from a provider before upgrading to something yearly. In case they make dramas with refund policy's, you didnt waste a big amount of money.

Thank you for your advice. But who are the ones who offer monthly payment option. I am currently busy searching my options. Doing a lot of others things so its taking a while.
Would my niche affect the host I choose; do you think this has anything to do with it?
I want to do a personal blog about lifestyle and children and a Art website for an artist friend I have.

I used both Hostgator and Bluehost in the past and I see Hostgator is better Bluehost. Why? because Hostgator hes less downtimes than Bluehost and its speed is better too. I don't recommend Hostgator or Bluehost because I got problems when using them. As said:

Hostgator: limitations on CPU usage and when your website traffic increases, they will recommend you a VPS, if you are not, your account will be suspended.
Bluehost: more downtimes and pretty slow.

You should check web hosting offers on this forum to find out some are cheap and good features

Pretty interesting, so it would seem the persons encouraging me to use Bluehost or Hostgator are just advertisers. I am creating content and saving up some money to invest in a blog or website. I'm also not sure which one I will be doing as yet. But I will definitely spend the time to review the ones on this site.

Hey shanshan, this might help

2. Uptime

3. Response Time
Pingdom also shows the highest response time of the sites hosted on these two hosts. Site hosted on HostGator never took more than 1288ms (1.2 seconds) to load, whereas site hosted on BlueHost took over 5429ms (5.4 seconds) to load. So Hosgator has a better response time.
4. Speed Test

5. Customer Support
When it comes to Web Hosting Companies, having a great team of support is mandatory. There is an understanding team of support available at HostGator.

It's a Tie. Both HostGator & BlueHost have great User Interface.
7. Features and Pricing
BlueHost offers three plans called Starters Plan, Plus and Business Plan. On the other hand, HostGator also have three hosting plans called Hatchling, Baby and Business plan. These hosting providers change prices of their plans frequently, so it's better if you check out the updated prices. On this options it generally depends on your preferences.

hi,

Hostgator and Bluehost Hosting both offer very interesting hosting plans for good dollar.

In the end, I will go with Bluehost as my top pick .

f you want to take advantage of SSD drives and a longer money-back guarantee, I encourage you to go with Bluehost Hosting.

Guys,

I am not sure if you are aware or not , however Hostgator and Bluehost both brands are being managed by a single organization only that Endurance International Group. EIG taken over Bluehost and hostgator in the past and the support team that is working behind these brands are same just the products and specs are different. So far EIG caused a huge losses for both of these brands after the take over.
