Hosting for GAME?

Good day! My cousin is planning on setting up a VPS" for ONLINE GAMING. Then this friend of his keep insisting about DEDICATED SERVERâ€ Now he's confused on what service he would get. I prefer VPS because it is more budget friendly, but I'm not really sure. What are the advantages of getting a VPS for this? Do you prefer DS instead? Why?

VPS can be enough for some games, but it depend on the game requirements and on the amount of users connected.

"Arma 3" is the game. 4 or more players since we will be flooding the game by multiple AI bots. Is vps enough?

Dedicated server it is then. :neutral:. Thank you for the legit sites, let me tell my cousin about it first, offers here at my country sucks. Still looking for vps recommendations though. Is there any chance VPS can run it?

It seems that Arma use a lot of CPU. So it may be better to choose a dedicated server.
Soyoustart provide affordable gaming servers, take a look on https://www.soyoustart.com/. Or with a lower budget, you can also try https://www.kimsufi.com

CPU isn't the best point on VPS, because resources are shared with all other VPS. At least, a Kimsufi server will only cost few dollars more per month, but you will have a full cpu.

That sounds pretty cool and fun by the way. I would have to go with the cheapest just for now. After seeing how it works for you. then upgrade later on. You'll never know until you try it.

I would suggest, as it's gaming server, you should host it on dedicated server. But if the gaming configuration is low, then go with VPS. Try to use it, if the VPS will not fulfill your requirements then go with the dedicated server.

Dedicated server will have high resources, bandwidth which is required for he gaming server.

A VPS with decent CPU allocation might work well for your situation, a high end VPS is better then a low end Dedicated server.

You can Host Game server on Vps but as per number of User increase you have to upgrade to Dedicated server for runnimg the game smoothly

Running game servers using a VPS is not a great idea at all regardless of the game in question. You are very likely to encounter bottlenecks and/or complaints from your provider.

A VPS is less expensive so I'll vote for VPS. One more thing about VPS's is that they're easier and you have more control on your virtual server. I think your friend should choose VPS first because its great for people that are starting out.

Thanks again sir 24x7! Yes my cousin finally decided on what service he's gonna get. Dedicated server it is! So far he had no issues. VPS is a thing for me back then. But after seeing DS works wonders for a little much more investment it is safe to say WORTH IT.

Yes, We had already think about this before then and we ourselves had checked the price range on "VPS with decent CPU" versus a "Dedicated Server" itself. Then we finally decided to go on DS, since is not that expensive and an innovation for our idea on what are the best for game hosting. Thanks to this community it help us really to decide what service to get.

Hi kamley! I myself had a VPS experience that is why at first I recommend it for my cousin. Nevertheless, we have chosen DS over VPS and so far we are satisfied on what it does. Thanks for sharing your opinion on this matter!

for how many users you need server ? Depend on the game requirements, VPS can be enough for some games.

Hi All depends on how on a few variables like a lot of members have said.
This forum topic has someone running there arma 3 on a 4 core VPS. So it all depends on what you limits are regarding price and how high speced your are willing to go to.
