How do I promote my forum to get new members?

I have created a forum months ago and now I am realizing that how hard it is going to be to build a community. Before I focus on advertising or big promotions I feel like I need to promote it to get new members and posts. What is the best way to do that on a small budget?

For users to stay on, and come back to your forum, it has to be an active community with lots of posts.

Some choose to hire forum posters to help get things going, but this can lead to poor quality posts.

Your best bet is to have a few friends that will help you make posts, and respond to users posts. It will still take time, but if you stay at it, it will grow over time.

I agree with RDO Servers and this will not work because forum posters could not know what they are posting because they are not specialists in fields that relate to forum niches they are working on.

I don't think friends can help in long time because they need time to care their works or sites.
I think that The fastest ways to get new members still is marketing and advertising.

But friends can not stay on the forum for a long time, I am wondering how you will maintain your forum with your friends.

There're many ways for you to promote your forum and get members as well as traffic, both free methods and paid methods.

Free methods such as: Doing SEO, Social Media Content sharing, Youtube sharing, Facebook Content (Fanpage, Group), Twitter, Google+, Pinterest,...and many other channels that give you free using and promotions

Paid methods such as: Doing SEM such as Google Adwords, GDN, Solo ads, Facebook ads, banner ads,...

So it depends on your budgets that you will choose which methods can give you the best effort, or you need to combine between free & paid methods in order to get the effective results

Anything that is for starting seems difficult. But with proper support and resources it can be a hit successfully.

First, you need to focus on your objectives and purposes in putting a forum.
The best support systems are your friends, relatives and family. Promote first your forum to those that you know and eventually when they all got interested you can rely on marketing by mouth.

Importantly, check your content. Your posts must be interesting to get more people attracted to it.

You can also use Facebook, twitter, instagram and any other free SEOs and join some forums or communities that you think can be a lead to promote your forum.

If your think you have budget, get a paid advertisement.
