Are you running a cPanel/WHM server? If so there is a simple migration tool. As always though you can run into issues, so if you don't know what you're doing its best to hire a system admin. And make sure you take a backup of all databases!

You will be able to run your MySQL DB in the MariaDB. I migrated lot of databases and I did not have any issues.
I will recommend you to test your DB first in MariaDB.

MariaDB is a drop-in replacement for MySQL. So you should have no issues in migrating.

I recently migrated one of our shared hosting server from MySQL to MariaDB via WHM's inbuilt too. Although backups were taken incase any mishap happens, but fortunately everything went smooth.

So I would urge you to migrate. But do take a backup.

Also, I saw a significant increase in the peformance and the server was less loaded as it used to be (CPU usage came down).
